5-Minute Coffee Recipes For On-the-Go Moms

On-the-go moms always need their coffee and they require fast and easy recipes to not break the rhythm.

Whether it’s work or managing the kids, on-the-go moms will always need their coffee. It’s our moral obligation. Without coffee, we get extra irritable and loud. But when we’re racing against the clock, we need a coffee that’s quick, easy to put together, and not too expensive. With that in mind, here are 5-minute coffee recipes for the on-the-go mom.

1. Americano or Long Black

  • Coffee
  • Water
  • Choice of Sweetener

The Americano is the fastest recipe for busy mothers. But what can make or break the recipe is the sequence it’s put in. While dressing up or getting ready, brew the coffee. Once you’re done, pour a bit of the coffee into your water jug or to-go cup and then sweeten to taste.

There’s no shame in using instant coffee for it since it’ll cut the time spent in prepping. Americanos are made with a 50-50 ratio (50% coffee and 50% water). Long Blacks are made with a 40-60 ratio (40% coffee and 60% water).

If you want it iced, sequence matters! First, put a bit of the hot coffee with 2 to 3 cubes of ice to cool it down. Then, add more ice. Pour more coffee and then cold water. This will also preserve your water jug from cracking due to sudden temperature changes.

2. Latté, Cappuccino, or Flat White

  • Coffee
  • Milk
  • Choice of Sweetener
  • Ice (if cold)

Latté is a common favorite, too. While you won’t have time to make a caramel macchiato, you can at least make the base. Hot coffee at the bottom and then room-temperature milk. A latté’s ratio usually goes 55% coffee and 45% milk. Cappuccino has 70% coffee and 30% milk, and flat white is 40% coffee and 60% milk.

If you want it iced, put the ice first and then the milk, then slowly pour the coffee. That way the sudden temperature change won’t be so bad.

Bonus Tip: You can cool it down also by putting a vanilla-flavored popsicle of ice cream and then using the stick as a stirrer.

3. Cold Brew

  • Coffee
  • Water
  • Sweetener

Yes, we know it takes at least 12 hours to cold-brew coffee. But that’s why cold brew is done in big batches. What some moms do is they make at least 2 liters worth of cold brew coffee and chill it overnight to have a quick and easy-to-pour coffee the next day. Some even buy those tumblers with filters so they don’t need to think about how much coffee they need.

For those wondering, yes, you can mix the sugar directly into the water so that the coffee already has a bit of a sweet taste to it!

Coffee is how we get to be supermoms and survive as on-the-go mothers!

Coffee gives us our daily dose of caffeine which can also help suppress the munchies but still give the energy we need. With all that energy burning, it’s got to go somewhere—which is why moms seemingly become “superhuman” when they drink their daily dose of black coffee. Unfortunately, time isn’t always on our side hence some coffee recipes need to be done in five minutes or less. Don’t be afraid to use sachets or instant coffee. It still answers our daily quota anyway! Besides, it also saves us around P200 a day.
