Same Day, Shared Light: Marian Rivera and Iza Calzado Celebrate More Than Just a Birthday
Marian Rivera and Iza Calzado turn a year older, celebrating their birthday as wives and mothers
August 12 marks a shared celebration of grace, growth, and motherhood for two of the country’s most admired women — Marian Rivera and Iza Calzado. Both stars share the same birthday and spent it surrounded by the people they love most.
A Joyful 41 for Marian: Dancing, Family, and Giving Back
After celebrating husband Dingdong Dantes’ birthday and enjoying the GMA Gala, it was Marian’s turn to shine. The Stars on the Floor judge kicked off her 41st birthday with a dance performance on the show, followed by a party at a bar in Makati and a family get-together at a posh hotel in Parañaque.
On her birthday, Marian shared photos of her time with her family and wrote: “Celebrating 41 years of life today! Overflowing with gratitude to God for His blessings, love, and guidance. Here’s to more cherished moments and divine grace!”
The year has been full for Marian. Beyond her television commitments, she continues to receive acclaim for her performance in the film Balota. She also remains one of the country’s most sought-after endorsers, representing brands across beauty, wellness, and food.
But beyond the spotlight and endorsements, Marian is first and foremost a devoted mom to daughter Zia and son Sixto. She’s often seen attending their school and sports activities—the most recent being when she, Zia, and Dingdong cheered on Sixto during a swim meet.
When asked how she balances it all, Marian shared with Modern Parenting in 2024: “Kung alam mo kung ano yung priority mo, hindi magkakagulo lahat eh. Like for example ako, priority ko talaga is my family, and everything else follows.”
She also gives back in meaningful ways. As an ambassador for Smile Train Philippines, Marian spent part of her birthday connecting with children the organization supports, many of whom she has personally sponsored for cleft palate surgeries.
Iza Calzado: Quiet Moments, Big Gratitude
Iza’s celebration was more intimate. She spent time at home with her daughter Deia and husband Ben Wintle, sharing snaps of them holding a cookie cake with a single candle.
On Instagram, she reflected: It’s taken me 43 years to truly understand that fulfilment isn’t in the grand gestures, but in the quiet, simple moments that fill my heart with gratitude.”
She added: ” As I welcome another year around the sun, I look forward to evolving, learning, and embracing the privilege that comes with both growth and getting older.”
She closed her message with a wish for others celebrating the same day: “More love, light, and laughter ahead.”
While Deia remains her top priority, Iza continues to wear many hats—hosting, acting, and serving as President of AKTOR, the Philippine actors’ guild, alongside chairman Dingdong Dantes. She’s also a co-founder of She Talks Asia, the women’s empowerment platform she built with Bianca Gonzalez and Lynn Pinugu.
In a heartfelt interview with Modern Parenting in 2023, Iza opened up about her transition into motherhood: “From the time that I got pregnant with Deia until now, [I’ve learned that] love trumps fear. I was operating from a place of fear for so many reasons: career, my weight, my body, which I was and am still working hard to love and embrace, mental health, family history, financial worries… I can go on and on. But then she came, and my God, I was just instantly filled with love.”
Motherhood Becomes Them
Though their celebrations looked different, Marian and Iza continue to evolve, on and off-screen. Their stories remind us that motherhood isn’t the end of ambition, but often its most powerful beginning.
