A New Kind of Family Viewing: Inside The Silent Noise

ABS-CBN International and Prime Video bring The Silent Noise, a story of family, suspense, and how a deaf child can make a difference in society

In today’s streaming landscape, it’s easy to find something entertaining—but finding something meaningful to watch as a family is a different story.

That’s what makes The Silent Noise worth adding to your watchlist. Brought to audiences by ABS-CBN International and Prime Video, the series blends suspense, family dynamics, and representation in a way that sparks both curiosity and conversation.

At the heart of the story is Eli, a deaf child played by young actor KD Omalin, whose perspective may hold the key to unraveling a mystery surrounding the Carpio family. Leading the cast are Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo as parents Jackie and Anton, whose lives are shaken by the sudden death of a teacher close to their family.

Premiering March 20, The Silent Noise is more than just a suspense series—it’s a story that opens up important conversations at home. Here’s why it’s worth watching with your kids:

It opens conversations about the deaf community

Representation matters—and The Silent Noise does this with care and intention.

Much of Eli’s story is told through Filipino Sign Language, making it both a learning experience and a chance for families to better understand how deaf individuals communicate and navigate daily life.

For KD, stepping into Eli’s world meant learning beyond lines and scripts. Guided closely by the FSL team, he shared that the experience helped him better understand how deaf individuals live and express themselves.

“Medyo mahirap po siya, especially sa isang tao na hindi deaf at wala masyadong alam sa dynamics,” says KD of playing the role. “ Pero since the FSL (Filipino Sign Language) team guided me, medyo naintindihan ko din po yung life kung paano mabuhay ang isang deaf.”

Zanjoe echoed this, sharing how working with the FSL community gave him a deeper appreciation for their honesty and directness. Even mistakes became learning moments—something parents can also model for their kids.

For Angelica, the responsibility was clear: to tell the story right. Rather than shy away from the challenge, she embraced it fully—highlighting the importance of showing up, listening, and learning.

It reflects how parenting changes you

What makes this series hit differently is how real it feels—especially for parents.

Both Angelica and Zanjoe admit that stepping into their roles as mom and dad felt more personal this time around, largely because they’re parents in real life. Scenes weren’t just acted—they were felt.

Angelica shared how her perspective has shifted, often finding herself questioning scenes the way a real mother would. There’s a deeper instinct now, one that many parents will recognize immediately.

“Yung realness niya kasi nasa ibang level na talaga. Noon kasi ang kaya mong gawin is imagine ano yung level ng love na meron ang nanay or tatay,” Angelica said, who is a mom to Amila. “This time, nagkakaroon ng debate like ‘direk sandali lang, pag ganito ang anak ko, ito ang mangyayari’.”

Zanjoe, on the other hand, spoke about finally understanding the sacrifices of parenthood—the sleepless nights, the patience, and the emotional weight that comes with raising a child.

It’s the kind of authenticity that can resonate with both parents and older kids watching alongside them.

It highlights sibling dynamics that often go unseen

Beyond Eli, the story also gives space to the experiences of siblings—something many families can relate to.

Characters like Pia and Matteo, played by Mutya Orquia and Zaijan Jaranilla, explore what it means to grow up in a family where attention and responsibilities can feel uneven.

Their stories gently touch on themes of being overlooked, stepping up, and finding your place within the family—realities that many children quietly navigate.

It’s a good opportunity for parents to check in with their own kids and start conversations about emotions that are often left unsaid.

It’s a mystery that keeps families engaged

At its core, The Silent Noise is still a suspense drama. The question surrounding Teacher Sam’s death (played by Mylene Dizon) adds a layer of intrigue that keeps viewers coming back.

Directed by Onat Diaz, the series slowly unpacks the Carpio family story across 10 episodes—reminding viewers that people, much like families, are more complex than they first appear.

As Diaz teased, what you see in the first episode is only the beginning. By the end, you may realize you didn’t really know these characters at all.

The Silent Noise premieres on March 20 on Prime Video, with new episodes dropping every Friday.
