Taylor Swift Contributes New Song for Toy Story 5
The highly anticipated Pixar sequel opens in Philippine cinemas on June 17
For many parents today, Toy Story isn’t just a movie franchise—it’s a beloved part of their childhood. Now, as they introduce Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang to their own children, Toy Story 5 is set to bring another adventure to the big screen.
Adding to the excitement is a brand-new song from global superstar Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift joins the Toy Story universe
Fresh from her successful The Life of a Showgirl tour, Taylor Swift has teamed up with Disney and Pixar to contribute an original song for Toy Story 5 titled “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
Swift co-wrote and produced the track alongside longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. The song will be released on June 5, ahead of the film’s soundtrack launch on June 19.
Fans can also pre-order three exclusive CD editions through Taylor Swift’s website. Each edition includes the film version of the song, an acoustic rendition, and a piano version featuring unique vocals and production.
According to Disney and Pixar, the song is inspired by Jessie’s emotional journey in the film and marks a return to Swift’s country music roots.
“It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable,” said Toy Story 5 director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton.
“The song is so deeply connected to Toy Story. So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”
The announcement followed a creative promotional campaign featuring “TS” billboards—a nod to both Toy Story and Taylor Swift’s shared initials—that appeared in major cities around the world. Fans also spotted a Toy Story 5-themed countdown on Swift’s official website before the big reveal.

Why parents are excited for Toy Story 5
Beyond the return of familiar characters, Toy Story 5 explores a challenge many modern families can relate to: children’s growing relationship with technology.
In the film, Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the gang find themselves competing for Bonnie’s attention against a new device called Lilypad. As screens become a bigger part of children’s lives, the toys must prove that imagination, play, and connection still matter.
It’s a theme that resonates with many parents navigating screen time, digital devices, and the importance of play in their children’s development.
The film features the return of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack, alongside Greta Lee.
Whether you’re revisiting the franchise as a longtime fan or introducing it to a new generation, Toy Story 5 promises a story that bridges childhood memories and modern parenting realities.
