Can You Work With Family? These 4 Siblings Prove It’s Their Secret Weapon

MJ and JR Marfori, Marga Arenas Vargas, and Mikee Arenas joined forces in creating products that will answer everyone’s lifestyle and wellness needs

When it comes to family and business, a lingering narrative suggests that mixing blood with balance sheets inevitably leads to chaos, hurt feelings, and dramatic fallout. For MJ Marfori and her brother JR, along with Marga Arenas Vargas and her brother Mikee Arenas, working together isn’t a recipe for tension—it is their secret weapon.

Earlier this year, the pair of siblings launched MMMM Beauty Corporation—an acronym derived from their names—and introduced their debut wellness brand, Gutta Glow. Barely months on the market, the wellness drink is already earning glowing reviews from busy parents, corporate hustlers, and everyday Filipinos seeking a delicious, easy step toward self-love.

Here is how these four individuals defy stereotypes, lean into family strengths, and nurture a growing wellness venture with clear roles, calm communication, and zero competition.

Finding the Right Moment for Self-Love

For MJ, JR, Marga, and Mikee, stepping into business together was a natural evolution. While some of them have worked on past ventures, the spark for Gutta Glow came from a shared, relatable realization: modern life is exhausting.

Between juggling demanding careers, managing household responsibilities, and wearing multiple hats daily, finding time for self-care often falls to the bottom of the priority list.

“Everyone is just so busy and so tired, and we need to find ways to love ourselves,” shares MJ, whose fast-paced career on television requires her to be camera-ready every single day. “We wanted to create something that could serve as a gift to yourself—something easy to bring, delicious to drink, and beneficial.”

For Marga, a hands-on mom of three and news anchor, aligning with the three felt completely natural. “Getting together just felt right,” she explains. “We all have similar values, and we believe in hard work. Our individual strengths are what make our business rock solid.”

The Beauty of Complementary Roles

How do four distinct personalities keep the peace while running a growing brand? The short answer: radical accountability, clear boundaries, and mutual respect.

“There is a certain standard when you do business, whether it’s with family or with other people. We have our certain roles and responsibilities, and there are no overlapping roles,” JR emphasizes.

MJ and Marga are in charge of marketing and creative strategy while JR and Mikee are in charge of operations and finance.

“What’s good about our dynamics is that we all fill in for each other,” Marga shares. “When MJ and I are busy being moms or wearing the many hats that we have, our brothers are there to represent us as well.”

The dynamic extends to emotional balance as well. “We approach everything professionally and calmly,” Mikee says. “We also balance each other—sometimes we’re serious, sometimes we joke around. Keeping things in balance keeps the business in place.”

Mikee highlights that working with JR—affectionately known as Marf—keeps stress levels low. “The fun part of handling this is when you have a partner like Marf because there is no dull moment with him. So when things get kind of serious, he always tends to make things calm and funny.”

Watching the Product Grow: From Concept to Reality

Like any passionate project, launching Gutta Glow brought a deep sense of maternal pride to both MJ and Marga. From early formulation trials to inspecting final sachet packaging, the journey mirrors the process of raising a family.

“We were there from conception—countless R&Ds all the way to the packaging of our first sachet,” Marga recalls. “The birthing pains, so to speak, have passed, but our responsibilities have just begun.”

Navigating the backend logistics was equally transformative for JR, who transitioned his corporate background into entrepreneurial operational mastery. “Learning about the margins and the operations has been a thrill,” JR says. “Also, TikTok has been a whole new world for us. We didn’t know how big of a universe it was.”

Through it all, open communication remains their anchoring principle. “In any business, it is important to keep your lines open and your ears open as well,” MJ stresses. “Communication is really vital so that nothing is left unsaid.”

Why Their Partnership Works

At the heart of MMMM Beauty Corporation’s early success is a shared commitment to confidence, steady execution, and personal growth.

“I don’t overcomplicate things. I don’t get overly emotional, and I want what’s best for everybody and for the brand,” MJ shares. “Above all, it’s about being smart, strategic, and hardworking.”

Marga thrives on progression. “I always like searching for the next best thing.”

Mikee believes in organic building. “All four of us seek slow and steady growth in all aspects of the business—from growing our social media content to looking for more affiliates and opportunities to share our products with the public.”

JR notes that their shared bond turns routine tasks into shared wins.

While the siblings plan to expand into other wellness products and dietary supplements in the future, their immediate goal is to make Gutta Glow an accessible daily ritual for everyone.

The Golden Rules for Starting a Business According to the Siblings

Thinking of launching a venture with your brothers or sisters? Take a page out of the Marfori and Arenas playbook:

Align on Core Values First

“Before getting into any business with anybody, whether it’s family or a friend, you have to have the same set of values, the same kind heart, and the same drive to push one another to be the best, says MJ. “There is zero competition within the team but 100% drive to reach your goals together.”

Establish Clear Accountability

“Don’t go into business with your siblings or family just by circumstance; it has to be by choice, especially if you don’t have experience. And there must be a clear business structure when you operate,” JR advised. “Each member should have a clear role that they are held accountable to perform.”

Stay on the Same Page from Day One

“Make sure you are all on the same page, from conceptualization all the way to the end. Communication is key. Being open to new ideas and concepts and setting clear roles is very important,” Marga said.

Consult and Respect Each Other

Never make unilateral executive choices that impact the shared vision. Mikee adds its important to always loop in your partners and leverage each other’s domain expertise before making pivotal strategic pivots.

At the end of the day, MJ, JR, Marga, and Mikee prove that running a successful family enterprise isn’t about avoiding tough conversations—it’s about having the trust and structure to navigate them together.
