LIST: Alternative Websites for Recommended Restaurants and Food
As Zomato PH closes its doors, here are some other websites you and the foodies in the family can go to for recommended food and restaurants.
It’s difficult to find a restaurant, even more so with honest reviews. Zomato PH had been every family’s go-to for restaurant and food recommendations. Unfortunately, they’ll be shutting down all their international operations in favor of some new investments, which leaves us hanging: where do we find good food and restaurant recommendations now? While they may be a little more convoluted than Zomato PH, here are some social media groups or websites to help you find restaurants.

1. Discover MNL
A public community-driven group on Facebook, Discover MNL has over 384.6k members posting their recommendations now and then about restaurants they’ve found within the Metro. The database grows with more members each day and the restaurants are easy to find so long as they’re tagged with the hashtag of their city. Currently, they’re also revealing a few hidden gems within NCR+.
Because it’s community-based, the recommended restaurants will most likely have instant reviews. The group even allows threads where people can comment on some good places to eat.
2. Where to Drink Coffee PH
Where To Drink Coffee PH is another Facebook group that specializes more in coffee places. They also feature some cafés within Antipolo, Taytay (Rizal), and many others on the outskirts of the Metro. The best part is, the cafés they feature offer an alternative to the usual mainstream coffee shops we go to and are certified by caffeine addicts.
3. Fine Dining Club Philippines
Although a closed group that requires some screening, Fine Dining Club Philippines is a handy Facebook group to lurk in if you’re looking for some good wine-and-dine restaurants. They also feature some of the recommended restaurant’s promos with some honest reviews from the diners. Although they have some exclusive offers for those who are part of the club, it’s still useful to see how they fare among those who often eat there.
4. Booky PH
Booky PH is somewhat like Zomato, even offering coupons and promos for good discounts. The selections presented include those in malls, and the website narrows down the choices to the ones within the area via GPS. They also have a mobile app as well if you’re on the go.
5. Google Review
While it’s not as populated as the aforementioned four, Google Review serves its purpose of helping us find recommended restaurants and also providing us with a way to get there. Moreover, it posts the phone numbers and the sort so, it’s easier to contact the restaurant. It’ll show you if the restaurant has a website or a social media account you can check out, too.

Sometimes, the best person to consult for recommended restaurants is a native of the area.
Foodies, food bloggers, and food critics can be quite reliable as well. But for those who are genuinely picky with their choices or just plain paranoid, sometimes a native of the area is the best person to ask. Because of always being in the area, they can verify if the recommended restaurant is really as good as people say it is or not.
We, too, have some recommended restaurants!
