The singer and nurse honored her mother’s life with a heartfelt tribute about love, faith, and family
Singer Carol Banawa is mourning the loss of her mother, Celine, who passed away on May 16 after battling cancer.
In an emotional Instagram post, the US-based singer shared that her mother died peacefully while surrounded by family.
“Last night, our beloved Mama passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by the people who loved her most. Our hearts are broken, and we already miss her more than words can ever express,” Carol wrote.
She went on to describe her mom as someone whose warmth naturally brought comfort to others.
“We will miss the way she could light up a room simply with her presence. We will miss her laughter, her stories, her warmth, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her,” she shared.
Carol also remembered her mother as a woman filled with grace, humility, and unwavering faith despite her struggles.
“She had one of the kindest hearts — humble, generous, selfless, and always thinking of others before herself. No matter what she went through, her trust and faith in God never wavered.”

Finally Reunited With Her Husband and Son
Part of Carol’s message reflected on the comfort of believing her mother is now reunited with loved ones she deeply missed — her husband and son.
“But now, Mama, you finally get to rest. Now, you get to be with Papa and Kuya again — the two people you loved and missed so dearly,” she wrote.
While grieving her loss, Carol said their family finds peace in knowing her mother is now with God.
“While we grieve deeply here on earth, we also find peace and joy knowing that you are now with our Lord Jesus Christ, whom you loved with all your heart.”
She also reassured her mother that the family would continue carrying the values she taught them through the years.
“You raised us with so much love, strength, faith, and resilience, and we will continue to do our best to make you proud every single day.”
“Ang Sakit Sakit, Mama”
Before her mother’s passing, Carol had already opened up online about the painful reality of watching a loved one battle cancer.
She described her mom as once “vibrant and kikay,” making the physical toll of the illness even more heartbreaking to witness.
“Watching you slowly waste away as the cancer takes over your body is one of the most painful things we have ever had to endure,” she wrote in an earlier post.
“Ang sakit sakit, Mama. Ang hirap hirap makita ka na ganito.”
Still, even in grief, Carol’s message reflected acceptance, gratitude, and deep love for the woman who raised their family.
“We exist, we endure, and we love because of how deeply you loved and raised us. We are who we are because of you.”
She ended her tribute by thanking her mother for becoming their source of comfort and strength through every season of life.
“Thank you for being our home, Mama.”
Known for OPM hits like “Iingatan Ka” and “Bakit Di Totohanin”, Carol has been living in the United States, where she also works as a nurse.
