A new spin on the typical tale of Scrooge, Spirited is the story of the Christmas Spirits preparing for their annual haunt of the irredeemable soul. Starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, the movie is a Christmas musical comedy that retells Charles Dickens’s 1843 novella A Christmas Carol with its various satires over the years.
2. Falling for Christmas

Starring Lindsay Lohan, this Christmas movie focuses on an amnesiac woman who was actually an heiress. Lindsay Lohan takes on the role of Sierra Belmont who then loses her memory in a skiing accident but is picked up by a lodge owner widower Jake Russell, played by Glee‘s Chord Overstreet. It’s a romantic comedy that even older kids can enjoy.
3. A Bad Mom’s Christmas

Although this movie came out in 2017, the movie is relatable to moms who are busy making Christmas enjoyable for families. From an overbearing mother-in-law who is highly critical about how things are done, to a mother trying to re-establish a relationship with her daughter who is also a mother, there’s a lot of family drama to laugh about and relate to in this movie.
4. The Noel Diary

A romantic Christmas comedy about finding oneself, The Noel Diary tackles the story of a young man who finds himself on his estranged mother’s estate. He then finds a diary and learns the story of another woman named Rachel where they discover some interesting things about their pasts.
5. Klaus

A Spanish-American Christmas movie that even received a nomination from the Academy, Klaus is an animated film that talks about parenting. When the Royal Postmaster General sees that his son, Jesper, is self-centered, he enrolls him in postman’s studies. It’s a story about a change of heart and a new retelling of Santa Claus.
6. Last Christmas

Starring Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke, Last Christmas is a movie about a young singer who finds herself cynical and struggling from constant unsuccessful auditions. She struggles after receiving a heart from an organ donor, revealing how she wasn’t sure how to live when given a second chance at life.
