Dimples Romana Shows How Parents Can Be Inspired By Their Kids

Celebrity mom Dimples Romana shows children can inspire their parents as her daughter, Callie, gives the family a gift.

We often hear stories of how kids are inspired by their parents. But the reverse happens too! Celebrity mom Dimples Romana posted a picture of her eldest kid’s, Callie’s, sweet gesture — buying her family a cake! While it came with a free chocolate roll, it was the other cake that melted Dimples’ heart. On the creamy caramel cake, the eldest child of the Romana-Ahmee added a dedication in red that read, “I bought this with my sahod hehe enjoy :)!”

The gesture surely brought tears to both Dimples’ and Boyet’s eyes with the celebrity mom writing what a “tremendous joy” it was to be remembered.

“We love you Capt @callieahmee 🥹 What tremendous joy for parents like us to be remembered still, even when you’re far away, living your pilot dreams 🇦🇺 You have us, always, in every defeat and victory- big and small ❤️ thank you for making us part of your first sahod celebration 🥹🫡,” she writes.

The First “Sahod” Celebration: Something most working young adult kids do

Nothing describes the joy of finally receiving our first “sahod.” Some of us may remember blowing it out in a bar with colleagues. Others may have used it to finally buy something we’ve been dreaming of. Then, some of us choose to “save” the money for a rainy day. But if we have nothing on our wishlist, paid off expenses, and put already some aside to save, we have a bit of leftover which some of us use to treat our families. Something Callie did with her first salary as a pilot.

But to now be on the receiving end of being “treated” by our kids, we don’t just see the gift. We see the effort they’ve poured into fulfilling their dreams and becoming successful in their careers. For the young adult kids, they see this as a “milestone” worth sharing. It’s like a small form of “thank you” to their parents for all the things they’ve put up with them over the years.

Watching our kids figure out “adulting” is inspirational — sometimes, it’s a complete “understatement,” according to Dimples as she continues writing a letter to Callie. While the celebrity mom admits to her and Boyet not expressing that pride in Callie often and the feelings sometimes getting lost in translation, the sight of their eldest daughter’s success is a welcome relief.

“She’s been living abroad on her own, independently for years now,” writes Dimples. “To say we are proud, as parents, of ate is an understatement. But know that everyday, we see you adulting, cooking, driving yourself, doing groceries, studying university, flying planes and still, living a balanced and fun life, already our parental hearts rest easy.”

The greatest victory as a parent can also be the hardest to face

Watching the kids leave the nest is one of the most nerve-wracking events as a parent. It can render us speechless and sometimes, things get lost in miscommunication. We want to keep them close as they reach the age we feel makes them “push us away.” Eventually, out of emotional exhaustion, we let go and pray they come back. And trust us, they do find a way. It may not be the usual but they just find another avenue — like how Callie bought her family a cake.

These little acts are both inspiring and a teaching moment for many of us. As our young adults make their place in the world, we get to revisit an old chapter of our lives — one that was fuelled only by our desire for personal growth. The more we watch our kids do that for themselves, the more we might find ourselves saying what Dimples said, “P.S. I want to grow up like you!”

Dimples Romana and Boyet Ahmee have three kids: 20-year-old Callie, 9-year-old Alonzo, and 2-year-old Elio.
