Ewan McGregor Earns His Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Celebrity dad of five Ewan McGregor earns his spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and his family is there to witness it with him.
While Ewan McGregor had many roles, his most famous one is Star Wars’ Obi-wan Kenobi which is probably what landed him on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Joining him at the debut was his wife, Mary Winstead, and four out of five kids — 28-year-old Clara, 22-year-old Jamiyan, 13-year-old Anouk, and youngest Laurie. Although his 22-year-old daughter Esther was not in the photo, we’re sure she’s just as happy for him as the rest of the family was.
The best part is — his star is near to the late Carrie Fisher, who played the iconic Princess Leia Organa!
Iconic for his role as Obi-wan Kenobi
For those who grew up with Star Wars, we’ll all agree that Ewan McGregor didn’t age much! In fact, during the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he also had a reunion with another co-worker: Hayden Christensen (who has a daughter), who played his apprentice (or in Star Wars terms, his Padawan) Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode 2: The Clone Wars and Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. He even thanks Hayden, sharing how he sees him as a “brother” and how they grew up in the “crazy world” of Star Wars together, alluding also to their relationship as Jedi Master and Padawan.
“Ewan, I want to thank you for being the best Jedi Master that anyone could have ever hoped for,” responds Hayden during the Walk of Fame.
While he had other roles such as the Carmelengo in Angels and Demons who would be opposed to the main character Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks), many still see him as Obi-Wan. In fact, Ewan’s brother, Colin — who’s a pilot — even styled his codename Obi-two!
Although the millennial Star Wars fans found themselves divided by some of Disney’s interpretations of the Star Wars Legends — an anthology of stories that made up the sci-fi franchise’s lore, they all banded together again when Ewan McGregor reprised his role once again as Obi-wan Kenobi in the namesake series. There, it tackles Obi-wan’s guilt as he faces Darth Vader (formerly Anakin Skywalker) — a role that Hayden Christensen gladly reprised last 2022.
He truly earned his place on the high ground
It’s a dream come true for Ewan McGregor, revealing in his speech that he wanted to be an actor “ever since he was a little boy.” He had also been working on his American accent to expand his repertoire.
“I’m so blessed to be able to live a creative life. Because everyday, I get to work, turn up and create stories with all these amazing creative people,” Ewan shares.
When celebrities make a name for themselves, it’s hard to forget the role that launched them into fame. Even if they take on other roles, they are still that character for them. And for us, Ewan McGregor will always be Obi-Wan Kenobi. But for his five kids, he’ll always be their dad.
