Gladys Reyes’ Son Gian Graduates As Salutatorian

Gladys Reyes is still reeling from the shock after her son’s graduation surprise.

When her son, Gian, was hailed as the salutatorian of Banister Academy, Gladys Reyes was both shocked and in awe. According to the celebrity mom, the teachers could not inform her in advance and all she knew was that he had an award. What joy it must have been for her when she found his name in big, bold letters with the title “Salutatorian of Class 2022-2023” underneath.

“Can’t get over with this moment, my heart is full!” Gladys happily wrote on her Instagram.

Graduating with honors: One of the best gifts a kid can give their parents

All parents want to see their kids excel and while graduation is worth celebrating, all the more if there is a form of academic excellence. In the background of Gladys’ reel, parents can hear her surprised and shocked remarks as her son was called up to the stage to receive his Subject Excellence Award. With Gian’s first honors, Gladys lovingly recalls how his late Lolo Abung played a big role in his school life.

“If only my late father, his Lolo Abung, is still here to witness all this, he would be ecstatic for sure. I remember when Christophe was younger, his lolo would tirelessly bring and pick him up from school, waiting patiently until his classes finish,” Gladys writes.

While Lolo Abung couldn’t join them, it was Gladys’ mother — Lola Pretty — who joined Gian and Gladys on the podium to commemorate the moment.

Gian: “Thank you so much!”

Although Gladys Reyes only caught a part of her son’s graduating speech, Gian thanked his whole family: mom, dad, lola, and his grandpa for their loving support. “I am grateful to be a part of such a loving and supportive community,” he thanks amidst his tears. “I am grateful to have grown alongside the community and this school even during the pandemic!”

A heartwarming moment that captures all the effort he and his family had placed in to excel in his academics, it’s an honor and surprise well-earned. Congratulations, Gian!
