A Father’s Song: Gloc-9 Reveals That ‘Sirena’ is for His Son
Singer Gloc-9 discloses that his smash hit “Sirena” is dedicated to his son, who is part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Gloc-9’s song “Sirena” has become a big hit—not only among his audience but also with members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
The rapper recently told ABS-CBN the story behind the 2012 hit, something he has not discussed much. During the interview for the rapper and Gary Valenciano’s collaboration, Gloc-9—whose real name is Aristotle Pollisco—admitted he was initially scared to release the song.
Ako’y nagsuot ng ibang sapatos o tsinelas,” he said.
Gloc-9 added he didn’t want to release the song because he might offend people. But the opposite happened. One fan even thanked him for the song because she said that it was relatable as she had a friend who was going through it.
He also said that fathers of gay children have approached him.
Gloc-9: ‘Sirena’ is for my son
Beyond having an impact on people, the song “Sirena” was written from a place of love.
In the interview, Gloc-9 said that the song was written for his gay son. “My son is gay.
While it took him time to express it, the “Hari ng Tondo” hitmaker is very proud of his son and looks forward to what he’ll achieve in the future. “Minsan iniisip ko how life gives you hints of magic here and there. And I don’t mind. Anak ko ‘yun.”
His son Daniel has since come out and he’s proud of him every day and will do everything for him.
The song he said is perhaps the best gift for both him and Daniel.
