ICYMI: MRT-3 Extends Train Schedule Monday To Friday

(UPDATED) Starting March 24, the Metro Rail Transit will operate an extra hour during weekdays. LRT-1 also announced it would extend by 30 minutes in the evening

There’s some good news for family members taking the MRT. On Monday, March 24, the Metro Rail Transit announced it will be operating until past 11 pm  during weekdays to give passengers enough time to get to their destinations.

On top of the new schedule, additional trains will be deployed especially during peak hours.

Breathing space for commuters

“Officially starting today extended na po ang oras ng MRT-3. Today umpisa na yun, tuloy-tuloy na yun. Ang LRT-1 magdadagdag din ng one train today para habang mayroong transport strike ay may dagdag na tren,” Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon told the press Monday morning

“Malaking bagay yan [MRT-3 extension] lalo na sa mga kababayan natin na ginagabi.”

The new schedule is a welcome for many commuters, especially those who go home late due to the influx of passengers during peak hours. While there are the EDSA point-to-point buses and jeeps in the metro, commuters have always preferred the convenience of the MRT-3 to get to their destinations.

On Tuesday, March 25, LRT-1 announced on its Facebook page that they would extend the time by 30 minutes for those heading home via Dr. Santos station and Fernando Poe Jr. station during weekdays.
