Jessy Mendiola Expresses Support For Luis Manzano As He Joins Politics

“This wasn’t part of our plan but God had other plans for us,” Jessy writes of her husband’s foray into politics

The filing of the certificate of candidacy has started, and several known personalities have trooped to the COMELEC offices. Elections in Batangas will be on everyone’s watch as actress and politician Vilma Santos’ children Luis Manzano and Ryan Christian Recto embark as first timers in politics.

Vilma will run for governor, Luis for vice governor, and Ryan Christian for congressman in the 6th district.

With Luis throwing his hat into politics, his wife, actress Jessy Mendiola, took to social media to express her support.

Embracing the change

In the joint post on Thursday, October 3, Jessy wrote: ” This wasn’t part of our plan, but God had other plans for us.”

Describing Luis as “masipag, maalaga at mapagbigay natao,” the actress-vlogger notes how he has always been ready to help people behind the scenes.

Jessy continued, saying that while it was not part of their plan to get into politics, it’s a new change and it’s a change that she and their family are ready to embrace.

” I am extremely proud of you for choosing this path, the path to help make a change and extend help to others. You are made for this.

In the comments section, Luis thanked Jessy, who he fondly calls Wowow for being by his side in this new journey.

Long talks before the filing

Last July, Luis admitted in an interview with MJ Felipe of ABS-CBN that he was already considering joining politics.

… Ngayon it’s more of pwedeng tingnan natin. Pwede na,” he said during his promotions for his game show Rainbow Rumble.

Jessy, for her part, said she was not initially keen on Luis entering politics.

I know naman it’s for our country, it’s for the Filipinos,” she told Boy Abunda in April.

But when she married Luis, she later realized the importance of his service to the people because of his parents. Then she said that if he ever does join politics, he’ll give her full support.

Aside from Vilma, Luis’ dad, actor Edu Manzano was previously in politics, having served as vice mayor in Makati.
