Jimmy Choo’s Collab with Sailor Moon Brings Back An Old Love
For many of us who grew up with Sailor Moon, Jimmy Choo’s latest collaboration with the franchise’s creator turns our old favorite cartoon into something trendy.
One of the greatest frustrations we’ve had with some of our franchises as fans are if they’ll ever produce bespoke fashion pieces we can wear daily and not feel ashamed of. Especially for those who grew up watching Sailor Moon, we searched far and wide for the dazzle and sparkle that the sailor girls often sported. It looks like that journey’s ended as Jimmy Choo releases its new collection: “The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” Collection in honor of the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
Sailor Moon Empowered Little Girls Back Then
Although some may find the plot a bit cringe-worthy today, it was all the rage back then. The ladies drew their power from magical artifacts and turned into amazing women who would battle the forces of evil. We can’t deny we wanted that. Seeing a girl win against the forces of evil empowered some of us, who eventually became strong women and mothers in our own right.
Jimmy Choo’s Creative Director Sandra Choi was inspired by Sailor Moon’s creator, author Naoko Takeuchi, and loved how the franchise’s focus on transformation still empowered and inspired. “Being able to work so closely with Naoko Takeuchi has been so inspiring. This collaboration underscores our shared values not just of female empowerment but for fashion’s ability to inspire inclusivity and individuality through personality and self-belief. The notion of transformation via fashion is central to Naoko Takeuchi, and clothes play a vital role in the identity of her superheroines, especially their shoes, the most powerful transformer you can step into.”
The collection has shoes, bags, and accessories that scream dopamine and maximalist fashion. With “revenge partying” now a thing, these shoes are the perfect steps to take back the reins of our lives.
