The 6-part episode is narrated by Bodjie Pascua, known for appearing on Batibot. Meanwhile, actress Ryza Cenon voices Maria Makiling. Aside from Maria Makiling, other famous characters such as Pedro Penduko and Nuno are part of the animated series.

According to the Netflix description, Maria Makiling tells the story of a woman, who is in search of the enigmatic shamanic community and finds out that she’s Maria Makiling. Each episode is between 20 to 25 minutes.
Mga Kwentong Epik: Maria Makiling was first shown on TV5. Another Epik, Mga Kwentong Epik: Bernardo Carpio is currently shown on TV5 with another Mga Kwentong Epik: Osyana broadcast last August.
