Nickelodeon: “New Live-Action Dora The Explorer series incoming!”
Dora the Explorer had a live-action movie. Now, they’re having a live-action series!
Dora the Explorer was a big hit for our millennials when they were tweens. We remember her as a little girl who would travel through three different places just to get things done while avoiding her nemesis, Swiper the Fox. However, Nickelodeon and Paramount seem to be on a roll. Because after their teasing of expanding the Spongebob universe, making a Blues Clues movie, and a full-length Baby Shark movie, now they’re releasing Dora the Explorer and turning it into a live-action series.
Inspired by Dora the Explorer and the Lost City of Gold
A lot of us were probably confused why Nickelodeon would turn Dora the Explorer from sweet little girl going to Abuela’s house to tween version of Lara Croft. But if we think about it, there are not many tween girls who empower our girls. Most shows usually focus more on teen problems. But Dora fits a particular niche. She relates more with our tweens. Even Nickelodeon and Nickelodeon animation released a statement that the show was more for our tweens.
When’s it coming out?
Right now, the said series is currently in the works. Nickelodeon and Paramount are predicting its premiere in 2023. And it’s another show that our kids can look forward to. Most likely, it’ll be shown on the Nickelodeon channel with the other movies coming out. It’s no surprise that the studios are taking a lesson from the live-action’s movie success, earning $120M while the movie only cost $49M to produce. So, we’re expecting the tone to be a little more mature and more specific for our tweens to relate to.
