It’s a Porktastic Win for the Philippines During The Hog Festival 2024
The Hog Festival 2024 held at Gateway Mall, Araneta City in Quezon City was able to secure a Guinness World Record for the most number of pork dishes displayed.
The Hog Festival 2024 was held at the Quantum Skyview at Gateway Mall in Araneta City last March 3, wherein the Philippines attempted to get into the Guinness World Record for the most number of pork dishes on display. And it was no disappointment as the Philippines made it into the World Record.
Around 341 pork dishes were displayed during the event. But after some checking, around 28 dishes were disqualified. Nevertheless, the country made it to the record because 313 dishes were recorded.
The event saw several restaurants take part in the event. Also in hand to help were schools and universities such as National University – Dasmarinas, University of Perpetual Help System, Perpetual Help College of Manila – College of International Hospitality Management, Lyceum of the Philippines University – Manila, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Robina Farms, Universal Robina, and Del Monte.
Dishes from around the country
It’s no secret that the Philippines has a plethora of pork dishes. Some include the tangy and sour Sinigang na Baboy to the creamy and nutty Bicol Express. Depending on where we are in the Philippines, each of the provinces has its interpretations and variations of the recipes! Besides bringing pork dishes that have delighted tables at home, it was an opportunity to expose people to more uncommon ones too!
Indeed, it was a pork feast this Hog Festival 2024!
Senator Cynthia Villar, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, and representatives from the Department of Agriculture graced the event and took time to sample some of the dishes.
