She announced on Monday, October 18, that she was leaving the brand she co-founded back in 2013.

Trillo made the announcement on Instagram which coincided with Happy Skin’s 8th anniversary. The former model and beauty columnist was shown removing a pendant with the Happy Skin logo.

“Today is also the day I’m announcing my exit from Happy Skin. This is a decision I thought long and hard about. It takes a lot of strength to leave something I poured so much of my life into,” she said.

The model and beauty columnist did not give specific reasons but seemed to give a clue for her decision.

“Shared values are so important. Doing a good job has always meant so much to me—not just a good job, but doing it with integrity. It never made sense to me to compromise what I believed in because that meant compromising my respect for myself, too.”

Consultation with Businessmen

Trillo admitted it was one of the most difficult decisions she ever made. She even consulted some of the well-known business people around her.

“Turning to them proved to me that no matter what generation you are from, right is right and wrong is wrong,” she said.

Looking back, Trillo said that she was able to accomplish her mission – to give Filipinas a makeup line that offers premium products at affordable prices and a homegrown brand they can be proud of.

She also said that while she had the privilege to walk away, she knew it was time to make better choices.

“Success to me is being able to check all the boxes in that list, but also knowing when to walk away.”

“Your soaring season is your sifting season. When you want to fly, you have to give up what weighs you down,” Trillo said.

Happy Heart and Mind as She Exits Happy Skin

She said that she will be forever grateful to the people who have supported her since she started the business, saying it was time to write a new chapter of her life.

“From happy skin—to now happy heart and happy mind.”

Trillo co-founded the brand with Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez. The line has been a big hit among beauty junkies ever since. Some of their products include the Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippies and Zit Zapper Cream Silicone-Free Foundation.

The brand has also expanded to nail polish and skincare in the past years.

Trillo also wrote the book “Read My Lips”, wherein she talked about the lessons she learned in establishing the Happy Skin brand.

Though she closes her chapter with Happy Skin, this mom of three will surely have more time to dedicate to her kids—especially daughters, Celestia and Audra. We can’t wait to see what this multi-faceted mom will be doing next!
