Hand Hygiene Education Begins at Home
With the right hygiene, staying SAFE is the new normal
For the past 5 months, the term “new normal” is what we’ve all been hearing left and right. With the Philippines still experiencing a public health crisis, Filipinos have added more steps to their daily routines; from not leaving their homes until they are face mask-ready to thoroughly washing their hands the moment they get back. As handwashing is now considered the first line of defense in fighting the global pandemic, P&G Safeguard joined forces with the Department of Health on the BIDA Solusyon Laban sa COVID-19 campaign. This campaign aims to educate Filipino families nationwide on the correct hand hygiene.
Everyone says we have to practice proper hygiene, but what does it really mean to do that? A DOH study shows that only 1 out of 10 Filipinos are knowledgeable about proper handwashing. Luckily, 70,000 families all over the country will be receiving BIDA home kits from P&G and the DOH to increase familiarity with the correct hygiene practices. A two-week supply of Safeguard bath soap will be provided to ensure prevention from the fast-spreading virus. Outbreaks within different communities will also be much more regulated by the local government units.
“P&G has been a long-time partner of DOH in promoting health and hygiene such as during SARS or H1N1. Private-public partnerships help us reach and educate more of our countrymen so together we can all contain the virus and spare lives,” stated by Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho, Director of the DOH for Health Promotion and Communication Services.
Safeguard as the frontliners’ shield of armor.
Our country’s healthcare frontliners have also been immensely vulnerable to catching the disease. Given that, Safeguard donated more than 100,000 bars and bottles of soap throughout the Enhanced Community Quarantine period. To increase funds and other donations, the BayaniHands Project was created with the help of The Philippine Red Cross.
Now that businesses are slowly restoring operations once again, hygiene must still be of utmost priority. Proper handwashing provides safety to all Filipino families with the help of Safeguard to ensure protection against germs and bacteria through every wash.
Adapting to a better normal should mean knowing the right way of handwashing. To educate yourself further, head on over to Safeguard’s official Facebook page.
