Shrek 5 Gets A New Family Member As Zendaya Joins Cast
Zendaya is set to voice Felicia, Shrek, and Princess Fiona’s daughter
A new family member is coming to Shrek 5 in 2026. In a teaser trailer on Friday, February 28, Universal and Dreamworks confirmed that actress Zendaya is joining the film as Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter.
In the announcement, Donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy) asks, “Hey, Magic Mirror, who’s the fairest of them all?” The mirror, of course, answers Shrek and the scene shows different looks and Felicia reacting.
Shrek then asks: “Who is making this stuff?” Pinocchio chimes, “Not me,” as his nose grows long.
Zendaya previously tweeted about Shrek!
It looks like Zendaya manifested her participation in Shrek. On their official Instagram of the film, they shared a tweet Zendaya made about the movie in 2017.
” I watch Shrek too often in my childhood,” the tweet read. The caption read ” This aged well.”

Zendaya is known for her works in Euphoria, Dune, and Spider-Man opposite fiance Tom Holland.
Felicia was mentioned in Shrek the Third and appeared in Shrek Forever After as one of the triplets, along with Fergus and Farkle.
The full plot of Shrek 5 has yet to be announced, but judging from the short trailer, some family dynamics are evident. We might even get some father-and-daughter situations.
News of Shrek 5 was confirmed in 2024 when the official Instagram teased it. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz have announced their return. Originally scheduled for July 2026, it has been pushed to December 2026 in time for Christmas,
Actor Eddie Murphy also hinted at Shrek’s return by mentioning that he recorded Donkey’s voice for a project.
“We started doing Shrek 4 or [Shrek] 5 months ago. I did this, I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up,” he said during an interview posted on Collider.
Shrek Through the Years
Shrek was first shown in 2001 and has since produced four more films – Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After.
The franchise has also produced a spin-off of Puss in Boots, starring Antonio Banderas. In 2022, Puss In Boots returned with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
And if we’ve read it right, a spin-off for Donkey is not far behind, as Eddie Murphy told Collider a Donkey movie is in the planning stage. We can’t wait for what’s in store for the franchise when Shrek 5 hits cinemas.
