Star Wars Parents, A Turn-Based Star Wars Game Is Coming This 2026!

A turn-based Star Wars game is coming out, and here’s why Star Wars parents are ecstatic

Video games don’t always need people playing all the time. Some video game genres, like turn-based strategy, give us the freedom to put the console down for a while without any consequences. But mix Star Wars with turn-based games, we know many parents are just as excited as we are! Produced by Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment, the two studios are creating Star Wars Zero Company — a turn-based strategy game which is tentatively coming out in 2026.

Why We Feel Star Wars Zero Company Is Worth The Hype

But the game doesn’t just sound nice to Star Wars fans. It may also be good news for X-COM fans as it does sound like the beloved game, X-COM: Enemy Unknown. That’s because the group producing Star Wars Zero Company, Bit Reactor, was founded by ex-Firaxis developers — the company that brought X-COM to life. LucasFilm and game publisher EA Games appear to be leaving the creative direction to them!

The main character is a commander named Hawks who is tasked to create an elite team to deal with an emerging threat. Although the producers have remained mum on the plot, they wanted to create a game that would be “more meaningful” for the players and fans.

“It’s our aim to deliver a game with an original Star Wars story from the Clone Wars era that has meaningful outcomes from player choices, and deep turn-based tactical combat with an approachable and cinematic presentation,” shares Greg Foertsch, CEO and Creative Director at Bit Reactor, in an interview with Space.com.

Here’s a preview of what the game may look like:

Turn-Based Strategy Games: A Nostalgic Breath of Fresh Air

If any of us are wondering what games fall under the turn-based strategy game genre like Star Wars Zero Company, some familiar titles may include X-COM, Fire Emblem, and Final Fantasy Tactics. Most of us will probably remember playing these games on the old Nintendo Game Boy or the PlayStation when we were kids!

But let’s be honest, most of us probably gave up playing video games because of how time-consuming some of them get. Some, because of their many objectives and how scheduled they are, can feel overwhelming. We’re already subjecting ourselves to a 24/7, on-call schedule of being a parent. Why add another thing to our schedule that demands our undivided attention?

That’s the beauty of turn-based games. We can complete it at our own pace. Add a childhood franchise like Star Wars to the mix, and we get to enjoy something that “grew up with us.” According to the developers, Star Wars Zero Company will be set during the time of The Clone Wars. For those wondering, that would be Star Wars Episodes 2 and 3: Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
