The Live-Action of How To Train Your Dragon 2 Has Been Confirmed!
Despite the live-action production of the first How To Train Your Dragon movie not showing in cinemas, the live-action How To Train Your Dragon 2 already has a schedule and details
It looks like the second installment of the How to Train Your Dragon series has already been confirmed and scheduled! According to a report on Variety, the live-action How To Train Your Dragon 2 is already scheduled to debut on June 11, 2027, a week after the debut of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spiderverse in the theaters. The news was announced by the franchise’s veteran director, Dean DeBlois, during CinemaCon at Las Vegas and was joined by Gerard Butler, the voice and now live-action actor of Stoick the Vast.

“We are so excited to give your theaters a big summer title in two years time,” the franchise’s veteran director Dean DeBlois declared on stage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, giving fans a taste of what to expect from the live-action How To Train Your Dragon 2.
The Live-Action How To Train Your Dragon 2 May Be One of The Most Heartbreaking Installments
Assuming that the studio will follow the animated version’s plotline exactly, just like the first one then we know that the theater will be in tears at some point. While the story focuses on Hiccup’s rise to becoming chief of Berk, that’s not the part that had both parents and kids in tears. How To Train Your Dragon 2 had two key events: Stoick the Vast finding his wife, Valka, again and his inevitable death in the hands (or more accurately, flames, of Toothless). But who could forget the heartwarming and awkward reunion between husband and wife?
“You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you” – those words spoke volumes of how much he still loved her, despite the world-changing news that she lived.
Plus, How To Train Your Dragon 2 introduced one of the sweetest and most romantic songs in Dreamworks: “For Dancing and The Dreaming.” The song had become such a popular song for weddings that many YouTube Artists sang their own renditions. We probably danced to that song in our living room with our partners, far more than our own wedding dance songs!
But in the animated version, Valka was voiced by Cate Blanchett. Only time will tell if she will reprise the role!
So many kids’ movies coming out in 2027!
It looks like the live-action How To Train Your Dragon 2 will be joining other popular titles this upcoming 2027. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be coming out on March 2027, whereas Spider-Man: Beyond the Spiderverse will be happening on June 7, 2027.
Considered a Dreamworks classic, How To Train Your Dragon first earned its popularity as a book by Cressida Cowell. But we remember that it’s the movies that got all of us dreaming of riding and taming dragons of our own or buying our very own iguana or monitor lizard as a pet. If none of that was possible, we just went to DreamPlay in Okada to live out our dragon-riding dreams.
It may seem strange that they’re already announcing the second movie without the first one even hitting the cinemas. But if they’re following the movie, scene-by-scene, we know it’s going to be good!
