The Transition to a Plant-Based Diet Should Not Be Instant
Some fear going on a plant-based diet because of the caloric demand of their schedules as parents.
The idea of eating nothing but vegetables isn’t appealing to anyone, especially to very hands-on parents. Although it is the Year of the Rabbit, it doesn’t mean we have to eat like one. While a large portion of going on a plant-based diet means taking a lot of greens, there are a lot of legumes, nuts, fungi, and grains that make up for the alleged lack of protein. Nor is it lacking in flavor as people think.
The transition should be slow, not sudden.
It’s hard to stick to a plant-based diet when we make that decision all too suddenly. Doing so makes us lose our motivation as quickly as we gained especially when we’re in a culture whose cuisine revolves around strong flavors and meat. However, some brands such as the Green Rebel have been revolutionizing the use of plant-based protein by applying it to some strongly flavored favorites such as their signature Beefless Rendang or the plant-based Chicken Katsu.
But one of the greatest frustrations is how the switch seems to cost more than just buying regular meat. Luckily, Green Rebel will be making itself available in the Philippines this coming February to create more options for those of us struggling to make the transition. They’re currently available on Mayani and Vegore apps.
Going for a plant-based diet needs baby steps.
We’re heavily influenced by the fast pace of society and everything needs to be done instantly, including diet transitions. Especially to answer our family’s never-ending list of needs, some of us would rather stick to what we have because it requires less effort to adjust. But all the decisions we make needs effort especially if it’s one that will improve our family’s overall health.
However, going on a plant-based diet may reveal some hidden family genetic issues. It would be best to consult your family doctor first before making any dietary changes.
