5 Things That Dads Have a Personal Collection Of

If dads want to start a personal collection, here are things they can invest in.

Some families like building their personal collections of memorabilia or knick-knacks. Ceramic plates, crystal figurines, and even silverware are the most common items that moms build a personal collection of. But what do dads want to invest in as their personal collection? Here are some of the things that dads love to collect and sometimes even sell when they find the right buyer.

Things That Dads Have a Personal Collection Of

1. Die-cast metal cars

When there’s not enough garage space, dads settle with buying little die-cast cars that decorate their worktables. While some dads have actually turned collecting die-cast cars into a buy-and-sell business, others buy it because it was their dream car as a child. Usually, they buy from Hot Wheels, Maisto, or Bburago.

2. Watches

Rolex, OMEGA, and Patek Philippe are all big luxury watch names whose prices either retain or go higher as time passes. However, there are some models from other watch brands such as G-Shock or Seiko that also sell for a lot, especially the vintage ones. Some dads have already started their collections with Ingersoll, Philip Stein, and Bulova.

3. Comic Books

Comic books are what inspired dads to become the men they are today, most especially, Batman. Many dads loved Batman because he was a hero with no powers — he only had his brains and skills to take down villains. It’s why some comic books like Batman 236: Wail of the Ghost Bride are considered collector’s pieces. Back in the day, some placed the comic book in a hardbound book so that the literal bookworms won’t get to them.

4. Figurines

Figurines, especially those from old movies that have long been phased out, can be sold at a high price. Some even sell at five times their original price. Funko Pop is a more general brand, covering characters from different franchises like the Little Prince Figurine, selling at almost PHP 15,000.00. McFarlane’s Spawn collection is also a collector’s favorite to add to Dad’s personal collection.

5. Books

Some dads are bookworms but they’re quite picky with their books. Many of the books they collect are often self-help books or pieces by philosophers like Immanuel Kant, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Niccolo Machiavelli. Because some of these are no longer being printed, they sell for a lot. Besides, knowledge will always be valuable.

Building a personal collection is a fun but lucrative way for dads to spend time

When kids leave the nest, some parents are at a loss for what to do with their free time. While some parents enjoy sports, others like making money in their spare time. Besides, some of the items dads end up adding to their personal collection also hold sentimental value. To some, it could just be a toy from a fast-food value meal, but to a dad, it could be a representation of a core memory of their child chewing their first meal.
