Janella Salvador’s Truth About Being a Fur Parent Has Us in Tears
“The hardest part about loving animals is knowing that you’re bound to outlive them.” – Janella Salvador
The pain of losing a fur baby, despite us knowing that we’ll outlive them, will never be easy for us to get over. Our fur babies are the epitome of unconditional love. They come to us for hugs, respect our space, or let us cuddle them even though they probably were not in the mood for it. But what has us in tears more is the truth of their short lives on earth that celebrity mom Janella Salvador mentions while penning a sweet farewell to her 17-year-old cat — her fur baby named Twinkie.
“Perfect cuddly gentle cat anyone could ever dream of.”
Tuxedo kitty Twinkie began his 17 years with Janella when she found him in a Pasay pet store. “I found him at a pet shop in Pasay and fell in love so fast that I didn’t want to leave him behind and wait for my birthday.”
A 7-turning-8-year-old Janella Salvador back then convinced her mother to bring Twinkie home as her advanced birthday gift. Janella even posted the first picture they had together. “That’s 7-year-old me in February ‘06, proud and ecstatic to be holding my advanced 8th birthday gift from my mama.”
Cats are known to live up to 15 years and are lucky enough to live up to 20. Twinkie, for sure, enjoyed his 17 years on earth and spread all the love and joy he could before crossing the rainbow bridge.
Janella Salvador: “You have a spot in my heart forever.”
There is a truth in the adage that we’ll only realize how much we loved them when they are gone. Our fur babies, our steadfast fur friends who gave us the comforting silence we needed during hard times, will always have a special place in our hearts. Just like how Twinkie has a special place in Janella Salvador’s. Run free, Twinkie. May you have all the wet food, catnip, and kibble in the paradise beyond the rainbow bridge.
