Teletubbies “Sun Baby” Jess Smith Pregnant With Her First Baby!

The original “sun baby” from Teletubbies, Jess Smith, revealed that she’s pregnant with her first baby.

We may not recognize her now but Jess Smith used to be the baby on the sun in the iconic Teletubbies show. That smiling baby is now a 27-year-old mom-to-be! She revealed a sonogram on her Instagram, 6 days ago, remarking. “When 2 becomes 3.” In that same post, she also tagged her husband, Ricky Latham. Then, 3 days later, she posted another picture of her and Ricky where they had a vacation in Copenhagen, commemorating it as “their last vacation as two people”.

Who is Jess Smith?

Jess Smith apparently started her career when a director found her smiling and laughing with her dad, beginning her debut as the Teletubbies’ sun baby. She was 9 months old.

Those who follow her Instagram offered her congratulations, even remarking that she [the sun baby] was “having her own sun baby”.

It feels like we were just watching Teletubbies a few months ago. Now, the sun baby we grew up with is having her own baby! And even though she outgrew the role, the world still remembers her. She’s still invited to Teletubby-themed events, even attending one held by Sony Pictures UK. Currently, there is a reboot under Netflix and it has five different babies to play the role.

It may feel a little strange to see some of the people who played our favorite children’s show characters grow up and have families of their own. Some of us may not even recognize them until news or media outlets point it out or if they reveal the news themselves. But despite that, we’re happy that the original sun baby will have her very own ray of sunshine. Congratulations, Jess!
