Pantone Spreads Strength and Inclusivity with the Color of the Year 2023
Pantone Color Institute welcomes the year 2023 with the color Viva Magenta.
While 2022 was a year of blending faithfulness with vibrance in Very Peri, Pantone Color Institute declared Viva Magenta as the color of the year 2023 on December 1, 2022. “An unconventional color for an unconventional time,” Pantone revealed on its social media accounts that it’s “an animated red that encourages experimentation and self-expression without restraint.”
“Welcome to the Magentaverse!”
In a world that’s slowly getting back to its feet, Pantone shares the color as a signal to return to the “primordial.”
“Rooted in the primordial, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta reconnects us to original matter. Invoking the forces of nature, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta galvanizes our spirit, helping us to build our inner strength,” writes Pantone Color Institute’s Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman.
Pantone also describes the color as a “demonstration of a new signal of strength”:

The year 2023 will definitely start with a very red Christmas from 2022.
Color of the Year 2023 writes a new narrative.
According to Pantone Color Institute, Viva Magenta is brave and fearless. It’s a color that “promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.” For the many families struggling in the year 2022, Viva Magenta might just be the sign they’re looking for to strike back against the time lost. From makeup, toys, and even cars, Viva Magenta writes a new story as the color of the year 2023.
