Start Planning the New Year with Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2022
The Pantone Color Institute announces Very Peri as the color for 2022.
Parents and families planning themed parties to welcome the holidays are in for a treat. Pantone announced on Thursday, December 9, the Color of the Year for 2022. Next year’s color is Very Peri.
On its social media accounts, Pantone said of the color: “Very Peri is a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet-red undertone that blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red.”
Additionally, it is described as “the happiest and warmest of all the blue hues.” Plus, it introduces an empowering mix of newness.
“We are living in transformative times. As we emerge from an intense period of isolation, our notions and standards are changing.”
The Pantone Institute also notes that Very Peri is a color that embraces various possibilities. Moreover, it opens a new vision for re-writing everyone’s lives.

A New Color
The announcement of the new color is also the first time that Pantone has created a color.
“Creating a new color for the first time in the history of our PANTONE Color of the Year educational color program reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place. As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication, and a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red violet-infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us,” said Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute.
Additionally, the Pantone Color Institute has been releasing its Color of The Year since 1999. Moreover, the colors have been used in various industries.
In 2020, the institute introduced Ultimate Gray and Illuminating as its colors for 2021.
