Raising kids can be a challenge and more so those with special needs. This is what the trailer of Love Child, Regal Films’ entry to Cinemalaya showed in the trailer.

Scenes parents can relate

Although it’s only a minute clip, the scenes of the trailer depict the struggles of a couple raising a mentally challenged child. Both are working different jobs to augment income for their son’s school and medical expenses. At one point, Jane’s character, tired, apologizes to her boss for why she has not been delivering her work properly.

There are also moments when the couple are already struggling and start to question if they were meant to be parents and raise their son. Those doubts are quite common among parents especially when they feel that only their child is different. This movie, which opens as a Cinemalaya entry starting August 2, is a message to parents: you’re not alone.

We’re curious how this goes

As one of the films in this year’s Cinemalaya that tackles family issues, it’s only right that parents should check out the film. Although categorized as a romantic-comedy, the trailer showed that there is more than what we know. We have to watch it to see for ourselves how it can help us understand people with special needs further, most especially those with autism.

Cinemalaya runs from August 2 to 11 at Ayala by the Bay and selected Ayala Cinemas.
