Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez Discuss Doing Da Pers Family With Their Kids
Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez share their thoughts and conversation with their kids Andres and Atasha on joining showbiz and doing their first project together on TV
Aga Muhlach is finally back on television with the sitcom Da Pers Family. He stars alongside his wife Charlene Gonzalez and their twins Andres and Atasha. This is the first project of Andres since returning from his studies abroad.
Although the family has done commercials for a fast food chain, this is the first time the Muhlach family has agreed to do a sitcom.
Aga and Charlene on doing the sitcom with their kids
During the press conference on Monday, July 15, the couple were asked about their thoughts on doing the show together.
Charlene shared that the project is very personal for her and Aga, asking themselves if they can do it as a family. ” It was quite a process that we went through. Once we decided, we said you know what, why not get the opportunity to work with our family [and] what a blessing it is to be able to witness and see sa mga unang habang nila sa industriya kasama mo sila through every step.”
Aga admitted he had some challenges since the show involved his kids.
“When I say it’s difficult for me, it’s difficult in the sense na dati, nagtratrabaho ako, ito yung mundo ko sa pag-aartista. Ako lang iniisip ko,” he explained.
” Ngayon, it’s harder for me nandiyan yung pamilya mo na binabantayan mo, nakatingin at maglilinya na sila. Pag nasabi na nila yung linya nila, ah okay. Tapos ako na yung susunod at ako naman ang mawawala.“
The actor said he knows his kids can do it but admits to being protective. Pero sila na yung nag decision na they want to work.”
Aga and Charlene on giving their kids artistic freedom
Charlene and Aga also discussed how they raised their kids, emphasizing that even if they were from a famous showbiz clan, it was important for them to have their own identities as they navigate the industry.
” They went to different schools, they studied in different countries. As artists, Aga and I talked about it na anong diskarte ang gagawin natin?” Charlene shared. ” When we go on the set, will we be a parent? But we decided that we would be co-actors. And we will just let our writers, the cast, and our director take charge, so we’re in the back seat.”
When it comes to their artistry, Charlene and Aga let Andres and Atasha be but if they seek tips, they’re happy to share with them.
Aga echoed Charlene’s statements but shared it’s important for his kids to feel the emotions. “Kailangan nila maramdaman yung nerbyos, kailangan nila maramdaman yung pagkakamali. Iba yung pag na experience mo yung na kunyari pag nasa set ka, kinabahan ka, that’s beyond my control.”
“Importante na more than your lines, more than your looks, is your confidence and believing in yourself. But more than anything, masaya ako nandito na sila, nakakatrabaho ko sila. Pero sa tatahakin nila, nasa. sa kanila na iyan. Basta kami, nandito lang kami sa likod nila pero hindi kami makekelam sa kanila.“
Da Pers Family tells the story of a family that owns a bakery as they try to pay Aga’s debt. Although they own a bakery, it won’t be easy as Carl, Aga’s ex-best friend makes their lives hard due to his grudge against Aga.
The sitcom also stars Roderick Paulate, Bayani Agbayani, and Ces Quesada. The sitcom premieres on July 21.
