Ballerina Misty Copeland Confirms She’s Now A Mom

Misty and her husband Olu Evans confirmed to People that they are now parents to a 3-month-old son named Jackson.

Ballerina Misty Copeland confirmed that she is now a mom. Speaking to People, the American Ballet Theatre principal dancer shared that she and her husband Olu Evans welcomed their son Jackson 3 months ago.

“I have a 3-month-old. But I will be back on the stage in 2023. Hopefully, in the fall,” she said.

Misty said that she has been adjusting to her life as a mom and that they recently got a passport for their son. They will be off to France this summer.

Although she has been in the public eye as a dancer and even had cameras following her for a 2015 documentary, Misty mentioned that her personal life, including raising her son, will be private.

“Definitely with my son, I wouldn’t have him probably be on camera for anything,” she stated. “But when it comes to my career and what I’m doing, I’m really open.”

Working mom

In the same interview, Misty brought up that she will definitely be busy starting next year. Aside from being a mom and dancer, she’ll also be focusing on her fashion line, Greatness Wins. She’s grateful that her husband has been supportive. “My husband is incredible and he’s an amazing dad. He’s been there for me throughout my entire career to help me to be able to balance those things.”

“But you have to make sacrifices. I’m not at big events every night and out partying and going to dinners. I have to make sacrifices to be able to do all the things that I want to do.”

Additionally, Misty Copeland has been turning to her partners in Greatness Wins for parenting advice. She has so many things in store for the brand as well.

“Even going through my own changes now, coming into motherhood and my journey going back to the stage, I think is going to be a big part of the storytelling and developing the women’s line.”
