Ballet Philippines’ Peter Pan Is A Show You Can Take Your Kids
Ballet Philippines presents the adaptation of Peter Pan in time for the holidays!
Parents always look for something to bond with their children over the holidays. This year, Ballet Philippines is bringing the adaptation of Peter Pan to the stage, which they can bring their kids.
At a special presentation held at the Waterside in Solaire Resort Entertainment City, Ballet Philippines’ President, Kathleen Liechtenstein, discussed bringing the show as Christmas approaches.
“Whenever Ballet Philippines presents a show, it is to elevate the standard of dance in the Philippines, and Peter Pan is no exception. The libretto, music, costumes, choreography, and sets are all completely new. Thanks to our Artistic Director, Misha Martynyuk, we are presenting an entirely original take on this beloved tale. Peter Pan is our Christmas gift to you,” Liechtenstein shared.
Misha Martynyuk expressed his joy in bringing the show to the stage. He believes it’s an opportunity to get everyone to be happy in uncertain times.
“I think it’s time to share something positive and joyful, a family performance that offers a delightful escape from daily life. Our dancers are fully immersed in this ballet, and I believe that audiences, too, will feel a sense of childhood wonder as they reconnect with their favorite characters.”
Being a kid again
If you’ve seen the Disney version of Peter Pan, Ballet Philippines’ version on stage is not far behind. In fact, before the performance, former Ballet Philippines principal dancer and current Ballet Philippines Dance School Director Rhea Bautista read some excerpts from the adaptation. The excerpts include a scene of Wendy and her brothers and a a tender pas de deux between Peter Pan and Wendy, portrayed by Ballet Philippines’ principal dancers.
Ballet Philippines’ Peter Pan is an opportunity for families to introduce the story of a young boy through performing arts. At a time when kids crave visual perspectives, seeing a story come to life on stage is one of the best ways for them to get engaged. It’s also an opportunity to show that ballet is for everyone and not just for a chosen group.
So if you’re looking for a bonding moment with the kids, catch the performance from December 6 to 8 at the Theater at Solaire. Tickets are available through Ticketworld or Ballet Philippines’ website, ballet.ph.
