It’s Official: The BTS Boys Are Now Diplomats

Thanks to President Moon, the BangTan boys can add diplomat to their growing list of accolades

Apart from spreading cheer and good vibes to millions of titas across the globe, the BTS boys have one more distinction to add to their list: diplomat. Today, September 14, BTS members RM, Suga, Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook met Korean President Moon Jae-in at Blue House, his office and residence.

There, he handed them their appointment papers and a fountain pen, officially naming them special envoys for public diplomacy. To be specific, they’re now Special Presidential Envoys for Future Generations and Culture — woot!

They’ll be heading to New York with President Moon too!

On Monday, September 20, they’ll be making an appearance at the United Nations General Assembly session in New York. They’ll also be at the second meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals Moment (SDG Moment) of the Decade of Action.

“As BTS has delivered messages of comfort and hope to the entire world, its attendance at the UN General Assembly this time is expected to serve as a meaningful opportunity to expand communication with future generations around the world and draw their sympathy on major international issues,” the Blue House said in a statement.

Nothing but ARMY love

ARMY from across the globe took to social media to show support for their beloved BTS. They also shared videos of the guys fist-bumping President Moon, and even J-Hope giving him a thumbs up.

A South Korean news outlet reports that BTS will speak during their UN session and a recording of one of their performances will be played.

Which makes us think: what will these guys do next?
