Camille Prats and Angelica Panganiban On Teenage Days and Life as Parents
Camille Prats and Angelica Panganiban recalled the challenges they encountered while growing up in showbiz.
In case you missed it, Camille Prats and Angelica Panganiban recently reunited on Camille’s cooking vlog called “Cam Cook With Me.” The two, who starred in Sarah, Ang Munting Princesa started the reunion with some jokes about peeling potatoes in reference to the memes and scenes of the film.
In between cooking potato bites, the two actresses recalled their days growing up on TV and movie sets. They also spoke about embracing their roles as parents.
Fat letters and weight monitoring
While cooking, Camille Prats and Angelica Panganiban looked back on the many times that people commented about their looks on television.
“Ang natatandaan ko lagi namin struggle ni sis growing up – laging binabantayan yung katawan namin,” Camille said. “Parang yun yung mga things in our past na ngayon pag binababalikan ko grabe, iba pala yung mga bagay na rerequire ng industriya.”
Angelica then shared that she was asked to take some time off from shooting because, at that time, she was allegedly getting big in front of the camera.
“Medyo masakit iyon growing up. Alam mo may trauma siya hanggang ngayon,” Angelica admitted. “Like may check-up ako, buntis ako, ohh nag-gain ka ng weight, hindi okay. Nasasaktan ako.”
Angelica revealed to sometimes taking criticism about her looks personally — especially since she is pregnant with her first child. “Kasi nga ganun ako lumaki. Tumatak siya sa akin. Naging stigma na parang may mali.”
Thankfully, the two actresses observed that people are not as harsh with the new crop of personalities, unlike in their time. Camille, at one point, opened up that while she was talking about it with some friends, she cried.
Angelica Panganiban on lessons from past relationships
Moreover, the two discussed the lessons they picked up from their relationships through the years. Angelica said of those moments: “Feeling ko kasi sa life natin, may mga tao na likhang matigas ang ulo. Na parang gusto nilang ma-experience firsthand bago sila mapaso.”
“Feeling ko na kailangan ko matutunan. Gusto ko ito pagdaanan. Tapos no regrets pagka nangyari siya. Wala akong issue na pag nagmahal ka, go bigay mo. Hindi ako naniniwala na mapapgod ka, oo mapapagod ka, magpahinga ka. Pero laban, babalik iyan sa iyo. Maniwala ka. Huwag kang mawawalan ng hope sa sarili mo.”
Angelica emphasized that it’s important that the person who loves is complete and ready but knows their boundaries.
“Hindi lahat ng sobra maganda. Kailangan mo matuto na magkaroon ng limit na parang bibigyan kita pero ito yung akin. Nung natauhan ako at mas naging kampante ako, masaya ako nung binigyan ko ng attention yung sarili ko,” she said.
On embracing parenthood
In the last part of the vlog, the two discussed parenthood where Angelica shared about her pregnancy. She admitted that she is not prepared despite fixing the nursery room and doing exercises. She added that her boyfriend Gregg Homan has been supportive of the journey.
Camille then asked how meditation has helped her in preparing for the pregnancy.
The two talked about giving up sleep as well — because their child’s needs are much more important. They ended the video with Camille giving some gifts to Angelica and her baby.
