The Met Gala 2024’s dress code, Garden of Time, tells the story and struggle of two characters: Count Axel and his wife — who fight to preserve their beautiful mansion that is slowly encroached upon by an unforgiving mob. Eventually, the couple loses their home and the chaotic mob finds the count and his wife entangled amongst the thorny belladonna.
But what can families of today learn from the Met Gala’s chosen theme: the dystopian-themed tale written in 1962 by J.G. Ballard?
The Met Gala, as one of the most important fashion events, celebrates something that we often only appreciate when we’re about to lose it: beauty.
