Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman is Going On Hiatus

Don’t worry, Overcast Kids! Joe Trohman’s hiatus is temporary!

Although Fall Out Boy recently released a new song, lead guitarist and backup vocalist Joe Trohman announced on his Instagram that he’ll be “taking a step back from work.” Unfortunately, his work includes his current projects with Fall Out Boy, saying this is to make sure he doesn’t fade away completely. “So, to avoid fading away and never returning, I will be taking a break from work which regrettably includes stepping away from Fall Out Boy for a spell.”

Joe’s battle for his mental health

While he did not specify any particular issues, Joe Trohman announced that his “mental health had rapidly deteriorated over the years.” He also quoted Heart of Gold singer Neil Young’s howling of how burnout was better than fading away but added about his experience with the feeling. “But I can tell you unequivocally that burning out is dreadful.”

However, he adds that he was proud of Fall Out Boy’s latest album: So Much (For) Stardust which they’ll be releasing on March 24, 2023.

Joe Trohman: “Smell you sooner than later!”

But not to worry, Overcast Kids and Rocker Moms. Joe Trohman revealed that he won’t be away for long. “Will I return to the fold? Absolutely, one hundred percent,” he declares. As working parents ourselves, we know that our passions can also burn us out. When the line between our passion and work blurs, the feeling of being burned out creeps faster. But what’s important is having a support system with families, friends, and even colleagues which Joe has from his bandmates, friends, and family.

“Thank you to everyone, including my bandmates and family, for understanding and respecting this difficult, but necessary, decision,” Joe ends his announcement.

Rock on, Joe! We’re rooting for you!

Joe Trohman is a girl-dad to two beautiful daughters: 8-year-old Ruby Trohman and 4-year-old Zayda.
