Rocker Moms and Overcast Kids: Fall Out Boy Has a New Song!

Fall Out Boy was part of our early days when Pop Rock first started and now, they’re revealing their latest song this January 18.

Fall Out Boy was big back in the day as one of the Pop Rock bands that ran with My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, Boys Like Girls, and many others. While their albums are still a trip down memory lane for rocker moms, Fall Out Boy recently posted on their Instagram that they’re releasing a new song called “Love From The Other Side” this coming January 18, 2023.

Fall Out Boy of Then and Now: A Story of Dads and Men

While Fall Out Boy played on all our stereos and phones, they went on hiatus from some point in 2010 to 2012. The group had already published three of our favorite albums by then: From Under The Cork Tree featuring the award-winning song Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down, Infinity on High featuring our favorite “Thnks fr th Mmrs” and “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race”, and Folié a Deux.

They slowly started coming back in 2013 with the idea that they didn’t want to bask in the glory days. Rhythm guitarist Patrick Stump said, “We didn’t want to come back just to bask in the glory days and, like, and collect a few checks and pretend … and do our best 2003 impersonation.”

It’s why Big Hero Six’s OST, Immortals, began to lean more on the riffs and rock, along with their many other songs such as Centuries and My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up) — the song used in the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show where the band performed with Taylor Swift, and Phoenix.

By then, some of the members had already become dads. Pete Wentz has three children: Bronx Simpson Wentz with Ashlee Simpson (they eventually divorced, citing their breakup from a “married too young scenario”) and Saint Lazslo and Marvel Jane with his current partner, Meagan Camper. Patrick Stump also has a son, Declan, who is 8 years old. Lead guitarist Joe Trohman has his daughter, Ruby.

Overcast Kids (Now Moms) and Youngbloods: “This is Our Year!”

Fall Out Boy inspired so many of the pop-punk bands our kids know today. Their songs blaring on the stereos were a cathartic battle cry when things got tough. All the more now! We’re happy that our kids get to hear the music we screamed our lungs out to. Time to subscribe to their official YouTube channel or keep an eye open on Spotify. We’re looking forward to their latest single this coming January 18, 2023!

Overcast Kids is the old name used by the fandom in the 2000s and it was also the official name of their fan club. Today, newer generation Fall Out Boy fans call themselves the Young Bloods (or sometimes spelled as Youngbloods) which many of the older fans say they based on a single album.

Other Fall Out Boy fan communities may refer to themselves as Car Crash Hearts, too.
