Cooking can be overwhelming for first-timers, especially with measurements and ingredients. Enter the cookbook, a guide that one can use especially when making the dish you want or serve for your family. And most of the time, Filipinos are not afraid to share their cookbooks filled with family-approved recipes!

But with so many cookbooks, one will ask which ones to pick. We round up five cookbooks you can check out and the best part – they’ve been tested by different generations.

Let’s Cook With Nora

The late Nora Daza is synonymous with Filipino home cooking. She released several cookbooks including Let’s Cook with Nora in 1965, a gift for many newlyweds. Years later, her daughter Nina Daza-Puyat revisited and revised the cookbook, giving a new generation of food lovers to buy and read it.

Cooking with Sandy Daza

Sandy Daza inherited his mom Nora’s talent for cooking. Known for his restaurants and Casa Daza meals, Sandy released his cookbook Cooking With Sandy Daza under Anvil Publishing. Sandy continues to write about food for the Philippine Daily Inquirer and hosts a cooking and travel show on the Metro channel.

Maya Kitchen

Maya is known for its baking products and has cookbooks that first-timers can check out. They also offer cooking and baking classes, which parents and kids can try.

Simpol by Chef Tatung Sarthou

Chef Tatung Sarthou created dishes called “simpol” on his YouTube channel. Many of these recipes have been put together in a book called Simpol, which has become one of the must-have cookbooks for today’s generation. He also launched a kid’s cookbook called Young Chef’s Cookbook.

Baking Secrets & More Baking Secrets by RV Manabat

RV Manabat rose to fame for his cooking vlogs on his YouTube channel. On top of his vlogging, he released two books on baking: Baking Secrets and More Baking Secrets. Last year, he released his latest cookbook called Cooking Secrets.

Aside from cooking and baking, RV has also used his channel to share more about the country’s rich culture, especially his hometown in Laguna.
