Gabay Guro Celebrates 17 Years of Dedication To Our Kids’ Second Parents: Their Teachers!
Gabay Guro holds back-to-back celebrations for our kids’ second parents: their teachers.
When parents leave their kids in school, they leave them in the hands of their second parents — their teachers! Both parties work hand-in-hand to help kids realize their fullest potentials. But even teachers after dedicating their years to care for others, who watches out for them? That’s what Gabay Guro does as it introduces the 8th pillar of learning to their program: Health and Wellness.
“We want our teachers to be healthy,” shares Gabay Guro president Chaye Cabal-Revilla. “To celebrate what will be the Biggest Health and Wellness festival in their honor!”

at the event that brightened up their special day.
Teachers can have fun too!
Sometimes, families forget that teachers have lives beyond the classroom. They go out, get coffee, go shopping, and have hobbies like any other person. Especially while they’re adjusting the hybrid set-up for classes, teachers need a break. They don’t just teach; they perform in the name of academic excellence. The level of control and energy demanded grows alongside the number of students in their classroom.
But who cares for the teachers when they need to recharge? It’s their families — who are aware of how passionate and dedicated they are to ensure their kids have an equal shot of learning. Gabby Concepcion, a staunch supporter of Gabay Guro, shares how his passion for education comes from his mother.
“I believe education has a direct relationship to building our nation,” Gabby reveals. “And if there’s anything that my father — which I think he might’ve picked up from my mother — andito ka na, galingan mo na. That’s what I intend to do here [with Gabay Guro].”
Regine Velasquez, one of the supporters from the very beginning of Gabay Guro, lamented on the loss of teachers. Many of them leave the country and pursue a career somewhere else, she starts.
“They give so much without expecting anything in return. They’re like moms and dads! And being a mom myself, I always worry if my kids are getting the best. So, sending my kids to school means entrusting teachers to be my kids ‘second parents’.”
So for this upcoming events, Gabay Guro gifts the teachers with a star-studded concert at the state-of-the-art Meralco Theatre with names like Gary and Gab Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Kuh Ledesma, and many more. And in October, there’s a wellness fest to remind teachers to take care of themselves too!

Gabay Guro: “Building a nation. One teacher at a time.”
Teaching kids is no easy task — something that parents only realized completely during the pandemic when they had to homeschool their kids. With most parents eventually forgetting their school subjects, many probably developed a new sense of appreciation for teachers. Especially those who trained themselves to teach with the latest technologies, these teachers are nothing short of inspiring as they learn about each student from their weaknesses to their strengtha.
“Inspiring teachers the same way they inspire their students,” Gabby admits. “It’s a great reward in itself.”
The celebrations are to thank the teachers for all the work they’ve done — something that Gabay Guro’s president Chaye reveals is small compared to the impact that these individuals offer. So to our kids’ second parents, thank you for everything you’ve done. The kids had their fun, it’s your turn now.
