Another millennial heartthrob artist joins the band of dads! Singer Jesse McCartney and his wife Katie Peterson welcomed their son, Archer James, on May 7. The couple had announced they were expecting last February 15 and revealed in a post dated March 5 that they were expecting a boy. Although Katie revealed that Archer was still due in August, she’s still over the moon that he arrived.

“Our sweet Archie couldn’t wait to meet us and arrived a bit earlier than expected. We are so in love with him,” she writes on Instagram.

Jesse himself was also quite hyped up for his son. In an Instagram post, he was found picking out strollers and figuring out baby carriers.

When a bundle of joy comes early

Every premature baby has a unique story. Some come out healthy and strong, while others still need a little extra care before heading home. However, it’s typical medical protocol to keep them in the hospital a little longer to ensure all their bodily functions can handle the outside world. Most doctors would worry about the lungs, prescribing steroids to help them grow faster.

But visits from mom and dad do wonders, too! Nicknaming him their “little fighter,” Katie shares that Archer enjoys storytime with her and a lullaby from his dad. Considering his dad is one of the millennial crushes and artists, who wouldn’t want to be serenaded to sleep by Jesse McCartney?

It looks like his “older sister,” Bailey, is also patiently waiting for him to come home! “We look forward to bringing him home very soon to meet his big sister Bailey, who sleeps with his blanket every night,” the proud parents write.

For some millennials, we’re probably already feeling the age. It just seemed a couple of months ago that we were jamming to Jesse McCartney’s tunes like “Beautiful Soul” and “Because You Live.” Or, listening to him bring to life the English voice of Roxas from the beloved Kingdom Hearts game.

Now that they’re parents, we’re both happy and shocked. We’re thrilled for them but shocked at how much time has passed. Still, a big congratulations to both of them. Welcome to the world, Archer!
