Kaye Abad and Paul Jake Castillo Beam with Pride as Son Pio Joaquin Steps into the Boxing Ring
Pio Joaquin recently participated in a boxing competition in Cebu, sponsored by a pain relief brand
While boxing is intense and physically demanding, some parents—like Kaye Abad and Paul Jake Castillo—fully support their children who choose to enter the ring at a young age.
Proud Mom
Kaye beamed with pride as she shared photos and videos of her son’s victory in the weekend match.
“My lucid tiger, I’m so proud of you, my love. You were coughing so badly just hours before the fight that we even thought of canceling it, but you still chose to step into the ring. What made me even prouder was seeing you look for BJ after the fight, just so you could share your winnings with him. Congratulations, Joaquin!” she wrote.
In another post, the actress thanked those who supported Joaquin’s training journey:
“To Coach Jinggoy, who first saw his potential and patiently guided him every step of the way. Thank you for pushing him to do better, for instilling discipline. Joaquin wouldn’t be the boxer he is today without your dedication and heart.
To the Omega team, for making training not only effective but also fun. You gave him a second family inside the gym.
And to his dad, who stood by him through this whole month of training and the fight itself—thank you for being his strength. I am grateful for each one of you. KUMBATI!!!”

Kaye also posted clips from the match, proudly showcasing Joaquin’s skill and potential as a boxer.
Dad in the Corner
In a separate post, Paul Jake expressed how proud he was of his son’s big day:
My Lucid Tiger!!! All here to support you!!! Let’s go! To all the friends and family who supported him, thank you so much! No more drama. Maka-hilak nya me ((We might cry). Love you guys!”

A few days later, Paul Jake shared that Pio Joaquin was recovering and resting after the fight.
Support Your Kids
Getting your children into sports helps instill discipline, resilience, and confidence. In the case of Kaye and Paul Jake’s son, boxing became more than just a sport—it became a space for growth, character-building, and bonding with his family and community.
So, for parents out there, consider enrolling your kids in a sport and let them discover just how strong they can be.
