While it was sad to see one of the best of the women’s tennis pro circuit leave, it doesn’t mean her fans can’t be happy for her. Former tennis champion Serena Williams debuts being pregnant with her second baby in the 2023 MET Gala with a form-fitting Gucci black and white serpentina gown. The tennis star mom also announced her pregnancy on Instagram, expressing how “excited” she was when Dame Anna Wintour invited the “three of them” to the 2023 MET Gala.

Retiring from the Circuit to Fulfill Her Daughter’s Wish
Although it pained her to do so, Serena Williams announced her retirement from the women’s pro-tennis circuit to focus more on being a mom in a Vogue cover last year. She had heard her daughter, Olympia, often speak about wanting to be a big sister. Additionally, the value she placed on her sisters’ presence in her life as the youngest of the Williams sisters played a big role in determining whether to retire or not.
“Sometimes, Olympia even prays to Jehovah to give her a younger sister,” she admitted on the Vogue cover that announced her retirement. “I’m the youngest of five sisters myself, and my sisters are my heroes.”
One can also say that the Williams’ sisterhood may have inspired Olympia. Serena’s older sister, Venus, often played a big role in Olympia’s life and even shared on Instagram how she takes her role as an aunt very seriously.

Despite the tearful goodbye to the tennis pro circuit, Serena Williams appears to have settled quite nicely into retirement. Currently, she focuses more on being a mom along with managing her clothesline, Serena, and her luxury jewelry line, Serena Williams. She also co-founded a Sports Performance Care Line: Will Perform, knowing how much maintenance it needs to keep up the performance as an athlete herself.
