EXCLUSIVE: Maxine Medina Shares How She is Preparing for Her Baby Boy’s Arrival

Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina tells Modern Parenting about how she and her husband Timmy Llana are getting ready for their baby boy’s arrival.

Maxine Medina and her husband Timmy Llana have been busy since confirming the news of their first child together. On social media, the Miss Universe Philippines 2016 titleholder has been sharing some photos on social media of her buying baby necessities. The mom-to-be is not alone in the journey as her cousin, Dianne Medina is also expecting her second child, a girl.

In an exclusive interview via email with Modern Parenting, Maxine shares how she and Timmy reacted to the pregnancy and how they’ve been making space for the arrival of their baby boy.

Tears and happiness

“At first I was crying—I didn’t know what to say or do,” the Magandang Dilag actress shared. “I called Timmy and showed him the result then he smiled at me saying ‘Yes.’ He was so happy.”

When it came to adjusting to her pregnancy, Maxine says that she is lucky she had no morning sickness. “I’m just always hungry! I asked my doctor about morning sickness, and she just said that I’m lucky because I don’t have morning sickness or get the same symptoms as others.”

Timmy, on the other hand, has adjusted to the pregnancy and has learned to anticipate her needs, according to Maxine. “Timmy has adjusted well to the changes in the past months since the pregnancy. He is so caring and understanding, and he can tolerate my emotions and mood swings. He makes sure I have all I need for the baby, especially when it comes to my cravings.”

Preparations on the way

As they await the arrival of their baby boy, the couple has been busy fixing the space in their house.

“In our house, it was just me and Timmy,” Maxine shared. “Now that we’re having a baby, we are beginning to adjust our home by building more space for the baby, especially considering every corner of the house is our baby’s playground. It’s a big adjustment, but we’re taking small steps to get ready for it.”

She added that she’s also been getting enough food in her body. “I also keep my mindset happy and relaxed by reading books about what to expect when you’re expecting, and I make time to workout for overall preparations.”

Aside from their families, their friends have also been helping them, reminding them to enjoy everything before the sleepless nights. “We are so lucky to have our friends and family beside us, and their number one tip is to ‘GET READY FOR STAYING UP LATE, WALANG TULUGAN YAN for the first few months.'”

“That was a good number one tip, though, because I’m sure it’s true, and that’s something that we need to be prepared for,” she ended.
