Meet The Cast Of Masters of The Universe Film
The movie is based on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
He-Man is coming to the big screen once again. The film Masters of the Universe is set for release in 2026 and the full cast has been announced.
Leading the cast for the film is Nicholas Galitzine, who will play Prince Adam/He-Man. Jared Leto is set to play his nemesis Skeletor with Camila Mendes as Teela and Idris Alba as Man-At-Arms/Duncan.
Also joining them are Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, Sam G. Wilson, Jóhannes Jóhannesson, Kojo Attah, John Xue Zhang, Hafthor Bjornsson, James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley.
The official Instagram accounts of He-Man and Mattel has also confirmed the casting. On Tuesday, February 25, a new teaser photo was shared, showing He-Man holding the power-sword.
Travis Knight is directing the movie under Amazon MGM. Script for the film is written by Chris Butler.. Initial screenplay draft was written by David Callaham, Aaron Nee and Adam Nee .
Filming for the movie has started with photos of Galitzine and the power sword shared online early this month.
The Evolution of He-Man
News of the live adaptation of the film was announced in May 2024 when Galitzine and later Mendes was announced in the roles of He-Man and Teela. Since then, many actors like Leto and Elba have been reported in talks to be part of the film.
Details of the film have yet to be fully revealed but Hollywood Reporter wrote that the film will center around Prince Adam of Eternia and through the power sword turns him to He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe rose to popularity back in 1983 when the animated series was released. It gave way to another storyline – She-Ra: Princess of Power, introducing Adora/She-Ra to young girls.
In 1987, a movie also called Masters of the Universe was released starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella. The film however received negative reviews and was a commercial failure. Nevertheless, it has gotten a following from many fans of the animated series.
Revival in the 2000s
In 2002 a new series was released called He-Man: Masters of the Universe shown on Toonami under Cartoon Network. In 2021, another TV series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was shown on Netflix. The show ran until 2022.
With the live adaptation now rolling, fans of the series will have to wait if it will be close to the storyline they grew to. Masters of the Universe is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026.
