Moana 2’s Lessons For Kids: There’s Always A Way

What if you always follow the rules the traditional way? In Moana 2, you learn there are other ways!

Moana 2 is officially in cinemas and picks up after the first film. As she embraces her new mission, Moana also learns many things along the way, which helps her discover herself and find other ways to solve a problem.

Believing in people who can help

In the film, Moana assembles a team composed of Kele, Moni, and Loto. Moana’s friends Hei hei the Rooster and Pua are also part of the voyage.

Moana believed that Kele, Moni, and Loto could contribute to the voyage they embarked on. Although they had their ups and downs, the three conquered their doubts and fears, helping Moana and Maui in the mission.

Nature is our friend if we treat it right

One of the lessons the film shows is the connection between humans and the sea. In one scene, Moana explains to her sister Simea why the sea is a friend to them if they believe in its capabilities. Moana is shown several times calling to the sea for help and explaining it the crew its importance.

The family bond

Moana also highlighted the importance of family. Moana’s grandmother may no longer be with her, but she continues to guide her on her new journey. We also see Simea’s closeness to Moana, giving her a piece of the island while she is on her mission.

There are many instances in which family members will clash, but one thing is for sure: the bond is strong.

There is always another way to solve a problem

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray summed it up during her reign that people can be redirected. In Moana’s case, she was given a mission to search for an island that could help unite the tribes living around the ocean. Just when she was tired and ready to give up, she recalled the conversation with Matangi, telling her there was always another way to solve a problem. This pushed her to continue the mission and eventually, the island rose from the sea.

Moral of the lesson: there is always something out there and you can be redirected to it.

Sometimes the person you think whose mean can actually help

We all know about Moana’s relationship with Maui and how they’ve developed a brother-sister bond after the first film. While we saw it in the film, we also saw a new character: Matangi. She is initially seen trapping Maui, and after he escapes, Matangi turns her attention to Moana. Moana thought she was the bad person, but later, Matangi helped her, reminding her that there are always other ways to solve a problem.

We’ve all heard the saying don’t judge a book by its cover. This applies to the Moana and Matangi’s meeting. We can remind kids that people they meet sometimes can be their friends.

Never be afraid to embrace the adventure

Moana 2 has lessons kids and their parents can pick up from. But one of the things that’s often forgotten is embracing the adventure ahead of them. It does have challenges and will have its initial worries, but if one embraces the courage within themselves, it will be an experience to remember.
