Patrick and Nikka Garcia: Partners for Life

Patrick and Nikka Garcia give a glimpse of their life at home with their four children.

When a husband and wife work together as a team, it’s easy to stay motivated and strive for the same goal. That’s exactly the dynamic between Patrick and Nikka Garcia. The two are parents to three daughters and a son—Michelle Celeste, Nicola Patrice, Francisca Pia, and Enrique Pablo.

“We both homeschool our children,” says Nikka. “Therefore, we are very much intentional parents. We enjoy doing things together. As parents, we equally share the load in parenting and running the household.”

Breaking away from a traditional family setup, Patrick and Nikka Garcia focus on each other’s strengths and help each other with their weaknesses. “We openly communicate and always inform each other what needs to be done. And because we are aware of each others’ strengths, the one who can handle a task better will be the one in charge.”

When asked about what they’ve learned about maintaining a strong marriage and partnership, Nikka is quick to say, “Always put the Lord first. Because once this is established, everything else falls into place.”

She adds that they are constantly a team. “Even if we have disagreements, we will always have a united front because we are one.”

In addition, Nikka Garcia believes in using the right love language. “We always have time to communicate and fill each other’s love language. So that the love we have for each other consistently overflows.”

When it comes to parenting, Patrick and Nikka Garcia believe it’s an everyday learning experience. “This is for both parents and children. There is no right or wrong way of parenting. And because every child is different, parenting will always adjust to the child’s needs.”

Moreover, Nikka advises young parents to consistently come from a place of love. “Children are very smart. They know and can feel. Always model what you want your child to learn and be. Children are like sponges. They easily absorb and adapt what they see every day.”
