Raise a Sang’gre: Encantadia-Inspired Halloween Costumes for Kids
Bring out the inner sang’gre and spirit guide in you by making costumes inspired by the world of Encantadia
Ready to conjure something truly magical this Halloween? This year, let your kids become elemental warriors, queens, or spirit guides from Encantadia, the iconic fantaserye that has captivated generations. With the 20th anniversary of the original series and the release of Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre, now’s the perfect time to swap the usual vampires and zombies for powerful sang’gres and mystical beings. Here’s how to make their transformation enchanting.
Pirena, Amihan, Alena, and Danaya
The daughters of Mine-a, queen of Lireo and elemental gem keepers, have inspired many kids, particularly girls, to be powerful. Pirena, the keeper of the fire gem, is the smartest of the sisters, but she is also the most cunning. Her story arc is the most emotionally layered, from how she betrayed her sisters and later on became hara (queen) of Hathoria.

Amihan, the second daughter and the keeper of the wind gem, is wise, motherly, and skilled in battle. Her soft-heartedness has always been abused, especially by her sister Pirena, who staged a coup to take over the Lirean throne.

Alena, the most beautiful among the four, is also the most romantic. But her love for Ybarro, later revealed to be Ybrahim, the king of Sapiro, has been tested many times. Skilled in battle, her voice can soothe or kill an enemy.

Danaya, the youngest of the four sisters, is the headstrong and brash among them, but also the most loyal when it comes to Lireo and Encantadia’s laws. She succeeded Amihan as queen of Lireo, and her daughter, Terra, would become Encantadia’s new savior in Sang’gre.

Terra, the new keeper of the Earth Gem
In Sang’gre, Terra, Danaya’s second daughter, is revealed to be Encantadia’s savior. She grew up in the mortal world, and when her Ashti (aunt), Pirena, locates her, she discovers her encantado identity and that she is tasked to save Encantadia from the ice queen Mitena.

Like her mother, Terra wears a brown warrior when she transforms for battle. She wears a brown top and pants to hide her identity from the enemy.
Adamus, the new keeper of the Water Gem
Adamus is the only male sang’gre and the second son of Alena. He was born after Alena promised Memfes, the leader of the Gunikar tribe, that she would bear him a son who would help Adamya. Strong and skilled in battle, Adamus also inherited his mother Alena’s power by using his voice to soothe animals or put them to sleep.

Adamus’s warrior costume is green and has the emblem of water. He carries a sword but also uses the chakra. When not in battle, Adamus is often seen in green garb and a cape.
Deia, the new keeper of the Wind Gem
Of the four new gem keepers, Deia is the only one who is not related to them. Hailing from Mine-a-ve, Deia was chosen by the wind symbol because of her pure heart. She was blessed by Amihan when they went to Devas, with Emre, the God of Encantadia, assuring her she was chosen for a reason. She later becomes an honorary sang’gre after retrieving the wind gem.

Deia’s warrior costume is blue and has the wind emblem. Unlike Amihan, who carries a sword, Deia’s weapons are twin axes and a bow and arrow. When not in her warrior form, Deia is seen wearing a blue garb. In Mine-a-ve, Deia is seen in a dark colored long-sleeved uniform and boots with fur trimming.

Flammara, the new keeper of the Fire Gem
Like her mother, Pirena, Flammara can be arrogant and haughty, due to her lineage as the princess of Hathoria. But Flammara also inherited the humble attitude of her late aunt Ariana, Azulan’s sister. Initially skeptical of Deia and Terra, Flamarra warms up to them and tries to teach them the ways of the encantados. She is very close to her cousin Adamus, since they grew up together.

Flammara is also the only sang’gre lucky to have her mother, Pirena, around for guidance throughout the challenges they’ve gone through. Her red armour carries the Hathorian and Punjabwe symbols, including the fire sign. Before the war, she is seen wearing a training outfit, and later in a red garb at the height of the war.
Here are some materials you can use to make their costumes:
- Construction paper to cut into shapes symbolizing fire, wind, water, and earth
- The construction paper can also be cut and used to design the details of the warrior outfits of the sang’gres
- Pearls and sequins to sew for Alena’s outfit
- Black cycling shorts and red top with headband, and put the Hathrorian emblem for Flamarra’s training outfit
- Capes in shades of sky blue, red, green, and bro,wn representing the gem colors, with dresses underneath them
Mira and Lira, the first generation of sang’gres
Before Terra, Adamus, Flamarra, and Deia, there were Lira and Mira. Lira is the daughter of Amihan and Ybrahim, the first sang’gre to join her mother and aunts together upon the challenge Emre gave her.

Mira is Pirena’s firstborn and was raised by Amihan, not knowing she was replaced to inherit the throne. Angered and upset by Pirena’s use of her, she briefly left Encantadia and later joined forces with Lira.
Kambal-diwas of the elemental gems
The sang’gres are not only the keepers of the elemental gems, they also rely on the kambal-diwas or twin spirit, guarding the gem.
Little is known about their history on how they became the spirit guide. In Encantadia, we were introduced to Alipato, the kambal-diwa of fire, Avilan, the kambal-diwa of air, Agua, the kambal-diwa of water, and Sari-a, the kambal-diwa of earth.
Later on, we discovered that there were four previous kambal-diwas who took care of the mother gem before it was divided. Lavanea took care of the fire element, Erenea, the guide of air, Celebes, the guide of water, and Harahen, the guide of earth.
Mitena, the Ice Queen of Mine-a-ve
Mitena is the main antagonist in Sang’gre. She is the twin sister of Cassiopeia, who wants revenge on Encantadia after her father Memen, banished her. She became Kera (queen) of Mine-a-ve after killing the beast Arsus and, through the Esperanto, was granted powers. Throughout the series, she dons various garbs, including her striking warrior ensemble.

Possible outfits for Mitena:
- Silver white dress with slits on both sides, exposing her legs
- White stockings
- Purple gown with a slit
- Blond wig
- Esperanto staff made of papier-mache or a sword or scepter form
Mine-a-ve people
Mine-a-ve is the latest land to be discovered in Encantadia. Located in the northern part, the place is cold and lonely, with many of its inhabitants wearing Eskimo-style outfits. Through Mitena, they were transformed into warrior outfits in grey and black.

Anaca, Mitena’s owl
Anaca is no ordinary owl. She can transform into her human form and shoot darts that can paralyze or put Encantados to sleep.

What to wear for Anaca:
- Owl-shaped headband or headpiece
- White boots
- White sheer or robe with an inner white top and pants
