Remembering Bob Saget, the TV Dad From Full House

The comedian, who starred in Full House and hosted America’s Funniest Home Videos died at the age of 65

Bob Saget, known for his role as Danny Tanner in the American hit sitcom Full House died Sunday, January 9 US time at the age of 65. The cause of his death has yet to be announced.

Hours before his sudden passing, Saget, who was in Florida tweeted about his show in Jacksonville.

Saget’s death was mourned by a number of his good friends in Hollywood, including Full House co-stars John Stamos and twins turned fashion icons, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Full House

From 1987 to 1995, Saget became known to many fans as Danny Tanner, a widowed father raising his three brothers on the show Full House. The show also launched the careers of John Stamos, Mary Kate, and Ashley Olsen, Candace Cameron, and Jodi Sweetin.

America’s Funniest Home Videos

Saget also hosted America’s Funniest Home Videos from 1989 to 1997. The show featured some of the most hilarious pranks and cute pets caught on video.

How I Met Your Mother

In the hit series How I Met Your Mother, Saget was both the narrator and the future Ted Mosby in the show. Josh Radnor, who played the young Ted honored Saget via Twitter.

“Bob Saget was the older wiser ‘me’ for nine years on How I Met Your Mother. He was the kindest, loveliest, funniest, most supportive man,” Josh tweeted.

“I’m endlessly grateful that HIMYM brought Bob Saget into my life. I’ll hear his voice in my head for the rest of my days.”

Fuller House

Saget would return as Danny Tanner as a recurring role in Fuller House, the sequel to Full House. He reunited with the original cast except for the Olsen twins. The show ran for five seasons.

The TV Dad everyone loved

Everyone grew up with a dad character from their childhood. For the kids who grew in the late ’80s and ’90s, Bob Saget was one of the television’s well-known onscreen dads and made an impact on many. His presence will surely be missed by those who grew seeing him on TV.
