The Best Local Loungewear for Lockdown

Need new pambahay? We’ve got you covered…literally

With our country’s vaccine rollout going slower than we hoped, it looks like we should be ready to spend the rest of 2021 still mostly at home. Although COVID-19 cases are decreasing and there’s a glimmer of hope, we’re still at least a few months away from “normal” times.

Even if you’re just home 99% of the time, it wouldn’t hurt to put a little more effort into what you wear. Your old college PE t-shirt and favorite pair of boxer shorts are definitely comfortable, but they won’t make you instantly Zoom-ready . To level up your “pambahay” look, we’ve picked out the best local loungewear that will help you look and feel good:

1. CoClo (Couch Clothing)

This brand calls itself “elevated loungewear” and we completely agree. Think stylish coords, flowy dresses, and thoughtful details like built-in bras and pockets. We especially love their perfect-for-summer Raquel dress that’s loose enough to keep you comfortable at home and stylish enough to go on a quick grocery run. CoClo Clothing pieces are also proudly and ethically made in the Philippines.

2. Elin

Although known primarily as a maternity and nursing wear brand, Elin has comfortable pieces that are made for lounging at home, pregnant or not. Our all-time favorite is the Tara Lounge set which is a comfy and cute shorts and top set you can wear all day long. ElinxKatana, Elin’s special collaboration with Solenn Heusaff, also offers chic and comfortable pieces that were made as loungewear but works just as well at the beach. Although it’s currently running low on sizes, we’re hoping they restock this collection soon!

3. Niquita.ph

If you’re a print-loving and dress-wearing kind of mom, Niquita is perfect for you. The brand is known for its versatile wrap dresses and styles that can be worn in 4 different ways. All their dresses come in a variety of prints, from bold tropical blooms to more subtle geometric patterns, so you’re sure to find something that fits your style. Their dresses are as comfortable as your favorite “daster “ but a hundred times more stylish.

4. Ziya

Ziya is a local online store that offers items for the home, artisan pieces through their Ziya Artisan line, and now also loungewear. The first thing that comes to mind when you see their clothes is how well-priced they are. You can get a set of coords for less than Php 700 and a silk set for just Php 1,290. We love their Cassini Top and Skirt set which we can imagine wearing lounging on our couch or lounging by the pool. They also have classic linen tunics and dresses that are perfect for your WFH situation.

5. GoBasic

Just as its name suggests, this local brand offers clothing basics like tanks, oversized button-down tops, and shift dresses. Although their clothes are not categorized as loungewear, we can certainly picture ourselves lounging around the house in their classic pieces, like their v-neck linen top and basic tank. When the pandemic is over, you can wear your GoBasic pieces to lunch with friends, while running errands, or a trip to the mall.

6. Candid Clothing

If you don’t want to spend too much on loungewear but still want to look presentable, check out the Candid Clothing website. The brand offers basic shorts, lounge pants, and soft bamboo tees at affordable prices. Their items are also made from 100% upcycled fabric, great for those who are environmentally conscious. We especially like their reversible lounge set, a matching set of a reversible t-shirt and drawstring shorts in soft and stretchy fabric.

7. Harper Bridge

Harper Bridge is officially sleepwear, but their chic boxer sets can bring you from lounging in bed directly to a Zoom call, without having to quickly change your top. Their pretty pajamas have made the rounds on Instagram influencers so you might be familiar with the brand. Their cotton linen sets are classic styles that you can use forever, while their boxer sets in charming prints will make you look forward to bedtime. For moms who love a matchy-matchy look, they also have family sets and kids’ pajamas.

ITO is known for their bamboo lyocell bed sheets and they now offer classic loungewear in the same ultra-soft fabric. Imagine being able to wear your favorite bed sheets all day long. Sold! 9. Lounged Collective

If you’re comfortable showing a little more skin and you think loungewear is interchangeable with athleisure, Lounged Collective has sets of on-trend cropped tops with matching shorts. Some of their pieces are made with lightweight knit fabric that’s just the right thickness to stay cool in our summer heat. Their sets range from Php 495 for a top and shorts to Php 2,845 for a 3 piece set that includes a cropped top, high waist trousers, and a long robe.

10. Private Storey

For glam women who love to dress up, Private Storey has the perfect loungewear for you. In their own words, they “combine glamour, comfort, and affordability” in their sleepwear and loungewear sets. Think silk, lace, dresses, and matching robes. They have been around for a few years so they have a lot of styles, fabrics, and colors to choose from. We especially like all the loose dresses from their latest Lounge Dress Summer Collection, sure to keep you cool in this summer heat.

We’ve all probably never spent this much time at home as we did in the past year and we need to stay safe at home just a little bit longer. It’s time to think of our house clothes differently and level up our everyday look. Thanks to a growing number of great local loungewear options available, we can stay comfortable while still being video-call ready.
